  1. Somewhere, Art Howe is smiling.

  3. A Gelbs interview before first pitch. Could be a bad omen.
  4. I'm guessing that if Keith ever mentioned this on a broadcast, he'd refer to them as 'Ribeye Pigs'.
  5. What he says is true. The Yankees have become generic. Nobody says anything to another guy wearing a Yankees cap. Criminals wear Yankee caps to blend in and disappear, because nobody thinks anything of someone wearing one. But when two people wearing Met hats pass on the street, there's often a nod of acknowledgement. We root for one of the most difficult-to-root-for teams. Think about it; sharing a city with, well, the most successful sports franchise of all time. At the same time, we have quite possibly the worst owners in sports. Our expectations are low, because we've had our nuts crushed so many times we could make a jar of Skippy. So we're bound together by our pain. There aren't a lot of bandwagon fans here- the ones who stick it out are the true diehards. It'll make it all the sweeter when they finally win. I just hope it happens before I die.
  6. Zvon wrote: Trout. Trouts a superstar. Harpers a shooting star. He'll glow hotter but not for nearly as long. This. Trout will have the better career. Harper just feels to me like he'll get derailed by injuries.
  7. Alderson sez: "Cuddyer? What was I thinking?"
  8. Kind of creepy, actually.
  9. 7-5 at the 2/3 mark. But arguably the heaviest lifting still remains. Still, better than I expected.......
  10. 4 HR's and yet it's only 5-3. Not really enough against this team.

  12. Well, ain't that a kick in the head.
  13. lol at Keith wanting to know what a 'nebbish' is. Nieuwenboom!
  14. Ya know, if I see Danny F'n Muno come out to pinch hit for deGrom or Syndegaard in any game in the near future, There. Will. Be. Consequences.
  15. This is why we're not allowed to have nice things.
  16. They had pretty good odds of making the playoffs on September 12th, 2007. Their odds were pretty good after the 11-game streak, too. So odds one way or the other on July 9th are, what's the word?.......meaningless.
  17. The old 'He's hurt, but we don't want to put him on the DL' chicanery. So just play with a 3-man bench because, hey, what could go wrong? And let's play him periodically so we can't backdate the DL stint.
  18. The Esix Snead game. Pretty much his entire career right there.
  19. Absolutely want no part of Ethier, for Niese or anybody else.
  20. Cuddyer's in LA, but he left his bat somewhere else.
  21. First inning runs are good if that's not all you do, Mets. Just sayin'.
  22. Maybe they need to send Harvey to the bullpen and go back to a five-man rotation.
  23. Howie probably didn't know the Wilpons serve day-old sushi to cut costs.
