  1. Cuddy looking overmatched. No more of this, please, Terry.
  2. Striking out A-Gon with a 99-MPH heater. Save some of those bullets for later, son.
  3. Way to make Kershaw work, boys. It'll pay off later. (Hopefully)
  4. I have my bright yellow compression sleeve at the ready.
  5. They need to win in four because on October 15th the missus has tickets to the theater-screen rebroadcast of the National Theater Production of Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. If there's a game five she'll be torn between her love of Benedict and her love of the Mets. Benedict should be very nervous.
  6. I may pull a Terry Collins and pee my pants waiting for 9:45.
  7. Scott Rolen used to drive by my house daily, yelling "Yeah! Catch this, assholes! We won anyway!!!!"
  8. I just hope I can stay awake until the end....
  9. Eh, I like the pressure of a one-game knockout. If you want to avoid this, win your division. This has the potential to be one of the best games of the post-season; two aces head-to-head with everything on the line.
  10. Sandy Koufax with a 10 WAR. Um, wow.
  11. Heard someone on the radio this morning say that the Yankees had lost, so the baseball season in New York is over. Well, no.
  12. This was already decided in 1985 when Back To The Future 2 said that the Cubs had won the World Series.
  13. Yeah, I've noticed she's a little tentative. Not surprising in that Krukie doesn't seem to want to interact with her much, and he strikes me as a bit of a "You want to put a GIRL in the booth?" kind of guy....
  14. Keith must be pissed if he's doing the post-game show. He won't get back to Sag until 4 in the morning.
  15. My certainty about the 82-80 record was based on 3 things: 1) Good pitching. 2) Inept hitting. 3) An unwillingness by the Wilpons/Sandy to go for it at the trade deadline. 1) was true all year 2) was true until about July 25th 3) totally surprised me when they did. Had this team remained on the same trajectory as they had been for the first 3 3/4 months of the season, they'd have limped along to the end as a barely .500 team with occasional flashes of brilliance. That they actually made moves to change that trajectory (and that the moves actually worked) is the real story of this season.
  16. Please. It's gambling, using MLB players instead of a deck of cards. Should it be legal? Yes. My discomfort is with the fact that the leagues, after being so strict with gambling, have completely gotten in bed with these sites. I don't want the Mets pre-game show posting their Draft Kings lineup. And I don't like that Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, and Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, are major investors in Fan Duel. Something's just a little off about that. And the fact that it's Pushed. So. Hard. makes you wonder.
  17. Gardenhire's intriguing. His experience was constantly retooling when young players got too expensive and left for other teams. But he preaches the 'fundies', as Keith likes to say, and that's one thing the Nats sorely lacked this year. Even with the clusterf*ck of a manager and all the injuries they had, they still won 83 games. A few judicious moves and they're right back there again. There's plenty of talent on that roster, which is why it was so fun to watch them crash and burn.
  18. Supposedly Cal Ripken's in the running. That'd be enormously dumb, so I hope they do it. The Papelbon- Harper thing was just the icing on the cake. So yeah, it would have been shocking if they HADN'T fired him. Surprised GM Rizzo didn't go with him, but he's got to be on reallllllly thin ice.....
  19. I can't watch the playoffs if my wife won't let me in the house. So no beard.
  20. I think they match up well with the Rangers so I'll go there. Much as I want to see them pound the pine tar out of the Yankees, my soul couldn't take another loss to them. I want them gone, and quickly. Jays are just too much of an offensive juggernaut. They hammer even good pitching. Royals would be my second choice. I think the Mets would light up Johnny Cueto.
  21. Lotta factors at play. Uribe's boobs. Matz's back. I like that they've sent a taxi squad down to PSL to stay ready just in case.
  22. I'm having a playoff party on Saturday and it's annoying that we don't know start times. They should at least be able to set Saturday as they know the games are in LA and STL, and there's no MFY factor.
