Mets in 7. It won't be easy. They're going to make the Mets starters work, and our bullpen outside of Familia is suspect. Need David and Duda to get hot.
Syndergaard may not start game 2 because he warmed up a million times in game 5 in LA . It'll depend on how he feels today. Had to be done because deGrom was constantly on the ropes and they had to get here first, but Matz in game 2 would be disappointing.
Mets have a decided pitching advantage, except when Arietta pitches. Cubs have a decided hitting advantage. Cubs have speed, Mets don't. But the Mets better be running on Lester, who can't or won't throw to first.
As you know, the Cubs fans believe that they haven’t been back to the World Series since 1945 because a fan wasn’t allowed to bring his pet goat into Wrigley Field and they’ve been cursed ever since. The name of that pet goat? Murphy.
Walking around Manhattan at lunch rocking the 2002 warmup jacket with the big NY, got lots of nods and smiles from similarly garbed folk. It's like being in the cool gang at school.
Mets Willets Point wrote: The look back at the ump as if to say "Wait, the Great Greinke really just issued a Base on Balls?" was great. I wonder if it was enough of a distraction that it contributed to the Dodgers' infield collective brainfart re: covering third base. I think that the slow call by the umpire was critical, too. Cederstrom's one of those guys who takes a long time to signal balls and strikes. For a second or two nobody was sure it was ball four and it kind of put everybody out of synch. Greinke had his head down. Murph was the only one thinking in that spot.
