  1. Hope those shirts weren't 'wife-beaters'.
  2. Braves kinda shoved that broom right up our.....
  3. Yes, but this team seems to suffering from hyperextended suckage.
  4. Vargas pulled after 4 2/3, eliminating his chance to pick up the win.
  5. Okay, enough. And to make matters worse, Harvey is warming up in the bullpen.
  6. Conforto needs to sit. Nimmo needs to play. Vargas needs to be waterboarded in an undisclosed location.
  7. Reyes reminds us why he's not a third baseman. But Vargas escapes without any further casualties.
  8. Travis d'Arnaud had a hyperextended elbow in 2015 and was out for 5 weeks. That doesn't quite compare to a pitcher throwing 96 MPH, but there you go.

  10. A year almost to the day that Thor's lat exploded. Elbow injuries to pitchers are not a good thing. There's a kind of Hindenburg-approaching-the-mooring-mast feel about this. Hope this training staff knows how to read MRI's.
  11. I always come back to Keith's head between Doc's legs. But I still prefer '85.
  12. Hyperextended right elbow. As Gary said, "Not good".
  13. DeGrom going down the tunnel with his glove on his head filled me with dread.

  15. What exactly does a 'social media correspondent' do? Tweet all game?

  17. Sad to think he's done. But it sure looks like he is. He's not even an afterthought any more. That ceremonial appearance, if it's in an official game, would cost the Wilpons millions in insurance money, wouldn't it? And if he makes a pinch-hit appearance and strikes out (which is very likely), wouldn't that be kind of a downer?
  18. I was out last night. I guess I can delete this one from the DVR, huh?
  19. They look pretty committed to Rosario. There really isn't anyone else. You're not going to throw Reyes out there every day and Cecchini isn't really a shortstop, sooo......they're going to ride him for a while. A-Gon just looks weak out there. The base hits he's getting are from teams defensing him like he's still 2012 A-Gon: lots of dunkers in front of outfielders. They need to say, 'oh well' and get serious about a Bruce/Flores platoon at first, which has the virtue of extra Zimmo. No faith in Smith at this point as he's not exactly tearing it up in Vegas right now. Alonso will pass him next year anyway.
  20. A Boy Named Seo wrote: How quickly the optimism surrounding this year's starting pitching morphed into the familiar exasperation that surrounded last year's. Last year they were pitching bad because they were hurt. This year they're pitching bad because, um, they're just bad. They have no excuses (unless they're hurt and not telling anyone, which is a venerable Mets tradition). But wasting that fantastic start by Thor is just criminal. They have dead spots in their order from 6-9, and they just can't get by with it any more.
  21. Considering that right now they have two functioning starters, Syndergaard and deGrom, it's really important that the Mets get ahead and win the games they pitch. Otherwise you have to rely on bullpen magic and late-inning heroics, which are nice when they happen, but are not a sustainable game plan.
  22. Gotta beat up on the bad teams, and the Padres are a bad team. LGM.
  23. Nice DP to put out the fire. But Rosario....grrrr. -Smokey the Bear
