    Lugo can go 50 pitches? Fine, but he needs to be sharp if he's going that long. He was obviously not sharp in the 7th, and when he gave up a hit starting the 8th after a long, long at-bat which featured foul after foul after foul, that was a signal that he wasn't on point. It happens; sometimes it's just not your day. But no. Mickey left him in, and what happened was almost inevitable. I've seen this movie too many times this year. Losing his temper in the clubhouse was just a capper.

    6.75 ERA and a 1.875 WHIP. He could have been worse. He could have spontaneously burst into flames on the mound, for instance. One of these guys whose name will come up in a couple of years and everyone will have forgotten he was ever a Met.

    I'm beginning to see myself disengaging from this team. It's a process that's fairly frequent. They tease for a while then settle into the doldrums of less-than-mediocre. Seems to be happening again.

    Yes, our bullpen has issues. Other teams having issues doesn't matter. Good teams overcome those issues. The Mets are not a good team.

    I turned it off when Mickey came out and Syndergaard said, "Are you fucking kidding me?" Because there's nothing smarter than giving this bullpen EXTRA outs to get. Mickey's got to go. I don't care if he's replaced by Riggleman or Dusty Baker or the ghost of Salty Parker or a toaster. He's gotta go. I imagine Noah would like to pull his scraggly beard out hair by hair right about now.

    The Mets have played simply awful baseball lately, and yet they're only 4 1/2 games out of first. The slightest glimmer of competence and they could be contending. So I expect they'll tank it against the Giants and Rockies, because that's how they roll.
