1. He could have done that hitting 8th, too.
2. Cano batting cleanup again. Must have pictures of Mickey. No other explanation.
3. =G-Fafif post_id=17295 time=1564629916 user_id=55] Conforto ordered TWO from Colomé!
4. He also rides the subway.
5. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Cano looked as crap as ever last night lazy, wide swings, slow gait to first, barely moving in the field. Pretty much describes his first at-bat tonight. He simply cannot bat cleanup if this team wants to win games.
6. I'm surprised they did nothing. At least a bullpen arm. It's an impressive starting 5, but after that jeez. Wonder how Stroman will react the first time Familia (or Diaz, or Gsellman, or random Syracuse callup) chunks up a game on him?
7. It's less a hijacking than being in an escape room with a bunch of ultra-confident dopes. They've been arguing for hours. That's a really good description of what we've been through for decades.
8. Noah raising his trade value tonight.
9. Well, they're not moving Vargas to the pen. So if Brodie is serious about contending for the wild card, he's got to pick up a bullpen arm someplace. Trading Vargas would have been a good way to get one, but, no. We had to get Bradley Wilpon's buddy instead. Right now they're 50-55 because of an underperforming starting staff, but especially a flammable bullpen. Add in a poor defense with too many players out of position and inconsistent offense and there you go. Some of these things need to be addressed. The starting staff may be improving, but the pen, oy. Trading Diaz will not help. Yes, he's sucked, but at least he's closer material. Lugo with his arm dangling by a string and Familia with his sanity dangling by a string are not reasonable alternatives. The Syracuse shuttle has produced nothing. Nothing else good can happen unless the pen is addressed. A good CF would be nice but it's not happening.
10. Gah. I'm afraid of putting Familia into any kind of situation. I'd be terrified if he had to choose between paper and plastic at Shop-Rite.
11. Yeah, he made a bad first impression that he was never going to get over. But arguably the second-best starter on the team this year. I'm certain that he will face the Mets in a Phillie uniform this year and bamboozle them.

But the Wilpons throw nickels around like bowling balls. They actually traded Vargas AND threw in cash to give him a call-up? Wow! Later Spending Bradley's inheritance!!!
13. Bossart is a 26-year-old catcher with a .195/.303/.335 slash line in Double-A this year. He is a former college teammate of Bradley Wilpon, Jeff's son. Better than 50-50 he gets a cuppa in September, ala Mike Glavine.
14. Willets Point wrote: Welcome Marcus Stroman! I like him from what I know about him. Hope he gets a chance to flourish in New York. Will feel a lot lest positive if Syndergaard is traded, though. Maybe by bolstering the rotation they can move someone to the pen and make it stronger too, although I don't know who that would be. It'd have to be Vargas, although arguably he's been their second-best pitcher this year. But someone in the rotation is definitely going to be traded, making it a moot point. I like Stroman but we have to see how the rest of this plays out. i have a feeling we'll be pretty grumpy by Wednesday evening.
15. I was really hoping Todd Frazier would be the subject of trade rumors but apparently nobody wants him.
16. Yes, let the wild, baseless speculation begin. If they trade Wheeler and get a plus defensive CF back, they still need to Roto-Rooter the bullpen. Unless the plan is to move Vargas to the pen. There's also the Diaz trade possibility, in which case every starter better throw complete games because otherwise they're doomed. I honestly can't figure out what they're trying to do here.
17. Wow, the minor league cupboard is really getting bare now. This ups the chances of trading Noah away for a bag of beans.
18. 8-3 good guys. Pirate defense is atrocious.
19. An anagram of Dario Agrazal is 'Gaza railroad'. An anagram of Zack Wheeler is 'Clark wheeze'.
20. Sorry, if I'm trading Syndergaard, I want an insanely good package in return. If no one offers insanely good, keep him.
21. I'd love to see a kidcaster come on and rip the Wilpons.

24. He can swing all he wants as long as he keeps getting base hits.....
