MLBPA would have reflexively fought any player sanctions. That's why Manfred didn't even try. He wanted this swept under the rug as quickly as possible and not dragged out by players fighting back. Just my .02. Now players on other teams may make it a bigger mess anyway, but I'm willing to bet that any player on an opposing team would have gone along with the scheme if they were an Astro. That's why I don't really buy the high dudgeon from other position players. Pitchers, though, they have a right to be pissed. -

But not hard to imagine the baseball club losing money if they are not receiving full market value for the broadcasting rights from SNY. Wilpons are trying to sell the expense vehicle and keep the revenue vehicle.

This bullpen will rise or fall depending on what Diaz and Familia do. If they're good, they won't need the Strops of the world. If they're bad, Pedro Strop wouldn't have made a difference. I get the feeling Brodie is looking at it that way, too. -
