  1. Wasn't BVW also Syndergaard's agent? Maybe he's privy to something we aren't?
  2. I'm not crazy about this trade, but I like how proactive BVW has been so far, so I'll wait and see how the roster looks on Opening Day. OE: I'm not sure it's really official yet. there is nothing in the At Bat app that says it is.
  3. Bullet Bob Hayes
  4. Rivera. That's it.

I do think Alderson was reluctant to pull the trigger on long-term commitments, and not just for short-term payroll concerns. But it's clear enough he worked within the restrictions of the budget he was given. Yes, I agree with this. Although in Sandy's defense, isn't his whole MO making good baseball decisions while saving money? I think that's literally why he was hired. It's the Moneyball thing. It's easier to do the Moneyball thing when no one else is trying to do it...
  6. The best part of this was removing 710 from my radio presets as soon as the game ended...

I tried the day before Nolan Ryan's birthday, but Joe Coleman snuck into the majors before Ryan did. It's impossible to fill both slots. The first player is younger than you, and the second player is older than you Oh, right. Duh. I need more coffee. LOL - So do I, I had to read it three times to make sure I had it right.

  9. I'm another one with Ed Nunez! FIRST PLAYER YOUNGER THAN YOU Ed Nunez was the first player to debut who was younger than you. He was born on 5/27/1963 and he made his debut on 4/7/1982, so he was 18! LAST PLAYER OLDER THAN YOU Jamie Moyer was the last player older than you to play in the majors. He was born on 11/18/1962 and last played on 5/27/2012, so he was 49. Sorry, pal, it's not gonna happen for you.
  10. If the season ended today, I would give it to Scherzer, too. However, the season doesn’t end today, and if Jake can get to 14-15 wins, combined with Scherzer sliding a bit, it would make things much more palatable for Jake to win.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: David Miranda. He has the right to remain awesome. He has the right to remain shiny.
  12. It would be really sweet if we could point to this game as the beginning of the MFY death spiral that knocks them out of the post-season
  13. The new GM decided. Little Lord Fauntleroy is the GM, just not officially named.
  14. In my world: Abolish the DH: do this gradually, eliminating it starting in the low minors, progressing one level each year until it reaches the majors. Increase rosters to 27. With the increased drug testing, including uppers, these players need more days off than ever before. Eliminate Sunday night baseball. Instead have one national game on Monday night (with a back up in case of rain), and everyone else is off on Monday. Hold the Hall of Fame induction in conjunction with the All-Star break. It makes no sense that everyone is playing during the ceremony. Want to increase speed of play? Call the regulation strike zone from nipples to knees. Eliminate inter league play.
  15. Apparently, Cespedes started a running program yesterday, running a series of 60 yard sprints at 75%. Also, apparently Edgy is the biggest racist here. ;-)
  16. What's sad is that I don't think this is rock bottom
  17. Joe Zanghi has been getting his frequent flyer miles, having been bounced up and down from St. Lucie to Las Vegas three times in less than a month.

  19. Conversation at the dinner table: Me: Did you hear that Syndergaard was put on the DL? OlderlittleDGW: What happened, did he lose an eye?
  20. As I said in the preseason prediction thread: The bullpen, defense, and lack of team speed all give me pause Yep.
  21. Cool! I’m waiting for my preorder to arrive
  22. 19-year old Vlad Guerrero Jr. is crushing the Eastern League to the tune of .421/.472/.697
  23. I may have to see this again. I missed some stuff because I was laughing too hard at the stuff that came before the stuff I missed...
  24. I like Vic's point of showing them in chronological order, but I would show Phase 1 (Iron Man, Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers) in production order, and what follows in chronological order. We are given a quick history of Howard Stark in Iron Man 1 & 2 - He basically shows up with no needed explanation in Captain America, and is nice call back to the IM movies.
