  1. New band name: Aaron Boone's asshole smirk
  2. It blends into the arm of the trespasser, but it looks like the bodyguard has a mustache. When did Hodges have his mustache?
  3. I said outfielder. If you're going to go big, go for the biggest fish out there. Reality says that there is no way the Mets get him, but Giancarlo would look so good hitting balls into the 500 section while wearing a Mets uniform.
  4. Pete Rose Roger Clemens John Rocker Yadier %$#&ing Molina Tony Fernandez Lenny Dykstra Roger MacDowell Tom Glavine
  5. I always got a kick out of Chipper. Yeah, I hated what he did to the Mets on the field, but I always got the sense that he played the role of the heel with a wink, that he was just having fun with the whole thing. I never could get to hating him like I did others, *cough*Utley*cough*Saint Derek*cough*cough*

But for the issue of Bonds having taken PEDs, he would be a lock for the hall of fame; and 2. The lack of voting support for Bonds is because many voters think his career is tainted for having used PEDs. That's the shame of Bonds - he was already HOF worthy before when it's generally acknowledged he started taking PEDs.
  7. Guerrero, Hoffman, Chipper, Kent, Thome.

  10. Lou Brock for 1974
  11. Greg Luzinski
  12. d'Kong76 wrote: I had two cool guys when I was a yute in Tom and Clyde. Clyde's still the epitome of cool, Tom not so much... happy birthday, big head. You may be cool, but you'll never be Clyde leaning on a Rolls while wearing a mink and holding a basketball cool...
  13. Ed Lynch started the tightest game I ever saw in person. Mets lost to the Cards 1-0, both sides had only 3 hits and one walk. Ed allowed only 2 hits in 8 innings, and Tom Gorman got the loss by giving up a HR to Tom Herr in the top of the 9th.

  15. Centerfield wrote: An important history lesson for those who think that the Mets injury issues might suddenly disappear in 2018. The Mets injury issues won't disappear until they are no longer owned by a Wilpon.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: One of the most efficient basestealers of all time. One of the most successful, if not the most successful, post season player of all time. Really, We're going to elect him based on base-stealing efficiency? A career .279/.350/.486/.837 with no black numbers is not hall of fame worthy. As much as I loved him as a player, he's the definition of a compiler.
  17. Damn, he was so good, and as I said earlier, the best centerfielder the Mets ever had... **but** ...sigh... Not a hall of famer... Looking at his career on Baseball reference, he has no black ink (well, one, for games played) for all of his defensive prowess, only 3 gold gloves. As much as I would love to see him go into the Hall as a Met, I think he's among the very very good, who doesn't go in.
  18. Centerfield wrote: Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Sounds like a recipe for a space-filling, click driving, off-season piece with little actual meat to it. Let me see what the roster looks like on Opening Day. Until then, this isn't worth an ounce of angst.
  19. It was fun and entertaining, but went for the joke too often. I don't want to get into any spoilers, but there were a few moments that should have been handled with a little more emotional weight, but either cut to a joke, or weren't addressed at all.
  20. d'Kong76 wrote: Only voted for Miller; if you asked me I would have said he was already in... This. He's the only one who is clearly worthy.
  21. ...John C. Holmes was impressed.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: He's already done the Florida thing. Got along terribly with his bosses there. Do you think he and Jeter have a relationship strong enough to fire Mattingly over? As far as sitting on this until the Mets left the marketplace, sure, why not? But that also means sitting on it until several other teams had snatched candidates off the shelves also. Hey, Yankees, sure, the Mets won't get Girardi, but now you won't get Calloway. Suckers. The Florida theory only had legs while I thought that it was his call to walk away. As for the MFY's waiting to announce this, I wonder if they already have a name in mind.
  23. Wow - I just heard that it was the Yankees who weren't bringing him back - Just wow.
  24. I think this was his call to walk away. I don't see him going to Washington, though. I think he'll land in Florida, closer to home.
