    Farmingdale competes in the Skyline Conference (who knew?) where they compete against: Maritime Privateers; Mount St Mary Knights; Mount St Vincent Dolphins; Polytechnic University; St. Joseph Golden Eagles; SUNY Purchase Panthers; SUNY Old Westbury Panthers (and when SUNY Farmingdale and SUNY Old Westbury get together you can throw away the record book).

    1B + E-1 + E-3 + E-5 = 3 Runs The only Little League HR I saw worse than that was one that started in similar fashion by Tommy John. The difference in that one was that John made all three errors himself. IIRC, John fumbled the pick-up, then threw it away, only to later throw away a relay throw. Since we know he reads here, I command Gary to give us the details later in the game.

    But this still all gets us back to the topic at hand which is, when you're dealing with/for prospects, who meets the definition of 'Good Value' usually gets decided well after the deal happens.

    The Nationals continue to play ridiculous games on a regular basis. Last night they held on to beat Houston 12 - 11 Astros score 1, 3, and 2 to lead 6-1 in the top of the 3rd; Nats counter with 5 in bottom 3 to tie it; then throw up a six-spot in bottom 5 for an 12-6 lead; and then survive allowing one in the 6th and four in the 8th. 23 runs, 25 hits, 2 errors, six Hrs (3 each). Seven earned runs were hung on each of the starters [Mike Burrows for HOU in 4.1 IP, and 6 full innings for Nats starter Miles Mikolas] with Clayton Beeter, who appears to be Washington's closer of the moment [7 saves, most of those recent], playing the hero by getting the final out of the 8th and then a 1-2-3 9th with only a one run cushion. Amazingly the game time was just 2:46, nearly an hour shorter than our game (3:42) which wasn't going to be a quick one even without the 10th inning.

    The good news from the last two games vs Atlanta is that the bullpen allowed nine runs after the 8th inning in the two games: six in the 9th on Monday, then two in the 9th plus one in the 10th on Tuesday ... and yet we won both games. Not that I'm recommending that as a winning formula. Mets have a record one game better than KC and for similar reasons: Royals are 20th in RS/G (Mets = 27th) and 24th best in RA/G (Mets = 19th)

    Another non-error that hits a fielder in his glove. Young at 1B in this case. And of course the error results in multiple two out runs. Two so far, and who knows how many more. btw, I have a theory I can't possibly prove. But it's one of those "it seems like" situations that is contributing to the 'everything going wrong' '26 NYM season. So it goes like this: every ball the Mets hit off a fielder, particularly come-backers, ricochet either back to the pitcher or to another fielder for an out. Yet hits banking off NYM pitchers or fielders always go for hits. Can't prove a bit of that, but I'm convinced it's true. Braves have five hits thru two innings tonight: two off NYM fielders and one bloop.
