  1. So not only do we have zero chance of losing today but Philly and Miami get trounced earlier (6-1 and 14-4) and Atlanta is currently down 10-5 to StL in the 7th. So, we've got that going for us.
  2. That's looking like, maybe, their Atlantic City casino greeter days. Both recently retired and taking money to act as greeters/celebs for A.C. gamblers. Bowie Kuhn didn't like it and they were banned for working within MLB unless and until they cut ties with the casinos and those who ran them. How times have changed.
  3. Game times/networks for this series: Friday: 7:15 (PIX) Saturday: 8:08 (FOX) Sunday: 12:30 (NBC) Monday: 7:15 (SNY)
  4. So the back half of June not only doesn't show any progress but there's actually some regression. Wasn't sure that was possible.
  5. Now this is some true clutch hitting going on here.
  6. Unless it happens to LF in Fenway, or sometimes Yanqui Stadium RF. And Staub was considerably faster much less slow compared to Kirk, at least on a same-age basis.
  7. I think we've seen better throws from Ewing this year than we have from Benge ... and as I'm typing Ronnie agrees with me.
  8. Before we get too nostalgic for a future that hasn't happened yet, do keep in mind that Sproat has a 5.28 ERA and a higher walk rate than Peralta, and Jett Williams is hitting .223 in AAA
  9. Gary referencing, but not detailing, the ejections of Willson Contreras of Nats pitcher Cade Cavalli on Tuesday based on Cavalli "saying something he shouldn't have said". That something was "Sit down, boy" following a K of Contreras.
  10. Neither team scored in the 10th, then the Tigers put up a four-spot in top 11 so 6-2 is your final. That's a sweep for the Tigers right after a four-game sweep by the BoSox. So seven straight losses for the Yanx in which they've scored a total of 15 (non-ghost runner) runs. They had a two game lead in the AL East when the streak started and are 3.5 out now and could be 4 out later tonight.
  11. Five runs, four of them after two were out. It just continues.
  12. Good news: Peralta limited the damage to one run Bad news: He's nearing 100 pitches (OK, it's 27 or so but it's still a lot)
  13. I suppose if I were hip (or Canadian) I'd know who Terrence and Phillip are. But I'm neither so I don't.
  14. My feed is saying 'Delayed'???? WTF? This better not have anything to do with Katy Perry!
  15. Had a rocky start to the season but has reverted to type since. He isn't had enough save opps but that's hardly his fault.
  16. Just once I'd like to hear the HP ump turn around and announce to the stadium: 'the batter/catcher is stupidly challenging the ball/strike call'.
  17. If the Mets can sustain this shutout for the next two innings I believe they have an outside chance at winning this game.
  18. Amazing how the Mets get the 'very best' of just about every pitcher every night.
  19. So might not having an OPS with runners on that's not 270 points beneath his bases empty mark or a RiSP mark that's not 410 points below. Or, put another way, 42% of his PAs have been w/runners on but those yielded only 31% of his hits and 28% of his Total Bases
  20. Mets are 7 for their last 65 with RiSP (8 games including tonight so far) for a .108 BA And considering how many 1-run games they've been involved in (last four losses for instance) even managing a lousy BA, like say .208 (13 or 14 hits instead of 7) might have won them two or three games just in this stretch alone. Sustaining a run like this should be nearly impossible but this team manages to invent as many ways to suppress scoring as FIFA referees do.
