Meanwhile, we should just save our pitchers some pitches and automatically wave the #9 slot hitter onto 1st base each time. Hell, they're going to wind up there anyway. Kendrick PH'ing this time.
  2. And now YouTube just showed the Jordan HR - so somebody is copying somebody around here. Jordan -- who you'll likely remember as a very intense player, one might even say he played with a football mentality, -- now is part of the Braves post-game show on their TV broadcasts. And he's almost unrecognizable as he's now morphed into a 'Guy Smiley' type of 'Good Morning America' style host.
  3. Six batters faced, two retired. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
  4. Yeah, let's walk the bottom of the order on base in front of the top of the order guys!!!! In addition to Diaz's HR rate, which I mention earlier, Familia's BB rate is more than double this season as compared to last (7.3/9 vs 3.5)
  5. It takes the occasional adjustment to keep the WCBS audio (via mlb.com) synched up with the YouTube video ... but the results are well worth it.
  6. If FaFiF reminded him of it, he left it uncredited. But, considering that Howie's knowledge of NYM history surpasses even Gary's (by Gary's own admission) I'm gonna guess that he was on his own on that one. He also brought up the 'Bo Diaz' game via the same discussion.
  7. 6-1, runner on 2nd, still no one out ... we got an outside shot at winning this one, or at least forcing it into extra innings.
  8. A quickie inning from Wheels, so he's now only about an inning behind a pace you'd like to see (7 innings worth of pitches thru 6) instead of two or more behind like he was earlier in the game. That's tough to do and somehow manage to hold the opposition to just one run.
  9. Howie brought up the 'Jordan Game' (as he called it) earlier in the game today when asked by Wayne about comparisons to last night.
  10. McNeil's day so far: 3U, 3U, 3U Despite his two (seeming big at the time) hits yesterday, he's been rolling over a ton of pitches lately. Haven't seen that all year from him until now, or for his career for that matter (although season & career are essentially the same thing w/him).
  11. =seawolf17 post_id=20879 time=1567619652 user_id=91] =bmfc1 post_id=20878 time=1567619417 user_id=73] Mickey said before today's game that if it was 8-4 he would have left in Lugo but Alonso homered and it was 10-4, so scoring more runs (likely) cost them the game.
  12. Only one run but also nearly four innings worth of pitches (58) just to get through inning #2 Even if the next couple of innings go well we're going to be into the bullpen early.
  13. Good to see that YouTube joins those networks (four-letter) who think that shrinking the screen to about 1/4 of its size* so they can show the guy being interviewed which they obviously believe is considerably more important than the game which they essentially begged you to tune into in the first place. And by 'good to see' I mean I hope the exec who ordered it gets into a car wreck on his way home tonight. * You brain-dead folks do realize that most folks are already watching this on a shrunken screen, right?
  14. Fuck that! Just getting in would be an accomplishment and show some fight (particularly now), as would winning the WC play-in game. After that, who knows what the fuck will happen. And if they wind up getting their asses swept outta there well that's still better than stumbling down the stretch to a 3rd/4th place finish while maybe keeping their heads above .500
  15. And consider that the pen -- three guys combined -- got only ONE out in that 9th inning. You get the impression that, had they been given an 11 run lead, they still would have found a way to blow it.
  16. I'm hung over this morning ... and I didn't drink a drop.
  17. =86dreamer post_id=20811 time=1567565523 user_id=97] Nido was a double switch not a PH - that was done specifically to give Lugo 2 innings
  18. I had no problem pulling Lugo after they built the big lead and especially with the extra-long time between innings. A position player should be able to protect a six run lead with 3 outs to go. Hell, trade for Russell Martin and use him (4 outings this year, 4 scoreless innings, 2 Hits, 2 K, 0 BB). For Diaz that's now 13 HRs allowed in 51.1 IP (nearly 2.3 per 9 IP) That's in contrast to 5 in 73.1 last season (0.6) or 20 allowed for his career prior to this year across 191 innings (0.9) I know 2019 is the year of the HR but to triple or quadruple your rate?!?!?!?? The only move I thought wonky tonight was PH'ing Nido now that there are extra bodies on the bench ... but even that one oddly worked out for us.
  19. =HahnSolo post_id=20770 time=1567562192 user_id=63] God the Nats are bad. How the hell are we trailing these guys?
  20. It's official, Jacob deGrom isn't allowed to win games.
  21. Well this is going to send everyone running to the 'Give Up' thread.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Never needed a triple-play more than now. Already one out.
  23. OK, I officially have nervous.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: a) Ten runs. In a game started by Scherzer. c) In a game started by deGrom. I'm not sure whether it's ( or (c) that makes (a) more unlikely, but together, wow. May 27, Kershaw & deGrom: 14 Runs, 32 Hits. 9-5 Dodgers
  25. We keep tacking on ... and we keep needing them.
