  1. Pete Kaboom, Pete Kaboom ... don't you just love it?
  2. Adams's dumpth = -1 (maybe two, maybe more) runs for Washington Turner's dumpth = +4 (and counting) runs for Mets

  5. =HahnSolo post_id=20747 time=1567559045 user_id=63] I wish we had Keith tonight to hear him hammer Adams over his comical baserunning
  6. There's an old(er) guy in the front row behind the plate who's having far too good a time with each playing of 'Baby Shark'

Alsonso: 1st pitch single to RF Conforto: 1st pitch single to RF Ramos: 1st pitch RBI double to LF Nimmo: RBI Sac Fly to CF on 1-2 count Panik: 1st pitch 2R-HR to RCF I'll confess that I was already thinking of the 'N' word for this game as the 4th inning opened, and was certainly viewing the 1-0 deficit as insurmountable (as per usual w/JdG on the mound).

  9. That flyout to RF was caught by Altherr at the fence (https://tunein.com/radio/Syracuse-Mets-Baseball-Network-s198289/?_branch_match_id=692898068113504646https://tunein.com/radio/Syracuse-Mets-Baseball-Network-s198289/?_branch_match_id=692898068113504646). Nice job by Nogosek in relief of Rubelow (who I'd never heard of). Nick Rumbelow*, he came up with the Yanx briefly in 2015 and was snagged off the Seattle roster earlier this season. * As in: "Arrrrrgh, is there nothing to drink aboard this ship, matey?" ... "Aye, there's some rum below"
  10. They basically stopped hitting, scoring 1, 1, 2, 1 in four of the six (ATL & CHC) games, often against struggling hurlers. Then even when they did hit they stopped clutch-hitting so the losing streak came despite out-hitting the other side in half of the six games. Pitching was good but had bad timing; they held the opposition to 5-or-fewer in four of the games, but the games where the Mets managed to score 5 & 7 were the ones where they allowed 9 & 11 Also got out-HR'd by a bunch, particularly by the Cubs.

  12. Ummm, could use a few walks.
  13. I have no problem if the Yanx want to do it (even though it only started post-9/11 because George liked to pretend he invented patriotism), and am fine if they want to televise it. But they shouldn't get to televise it AND THEN ALSO run their two minutes of commercials adding down-time to a game which already has too much. And just because the local TV is under orders to show it shouldn't mean that a network is required to follow suit. Yanx wound up losing 7-zip, first time they've been shut out all season (10 times with just 1 run) and the first time in 221 straight games (June 30th of 2018)
  14. Does ESPN feel like they get some kind of brownie points for carrying the MFY 7th inning stretch dog-and-pony show, or do you suppose that they are actually obligated contractually to show it? I know it's a holiday and all, though not specifically a patriotic one, and that they probably don't do this with all NFY home games. But while you can understand why YES shows it (orders from above) that MLB even allows them special dispensation for an extended mid-inning break 81 times per year is puzzling enough (you can show the anthem OR you can show your commercials, but not both) but why does a network get in line with the propaganda if not under orders to do so? 2-0 Rangers thru 7. Former Brave Mike Minor throwing a gem for Texas so he will of course not return for the 8th.
  15. Ryu's problems lately (several bad games in a row + now some IL time) have opened this race up and JdG has certainly been creeping more into the race with every start. Scherzer's IL time is a factor too; he'll wind up with significantly fewer starts, IP, etc.
  16. I'm Frayed Knot and I approved of that sac bunt.
  17. So Eflin's spot in the lineup comes up in a bunting situation. He also has a three-hitter going, has retired 10 straight, and is through 7 innings on just 5-1/2 innings worth of pitches. So in comes a pinch-hitter. Thank you Gabe Kapler Now if Jay Bruce hits one out here my post is going to look silly ... but, shyeet, even ARod had this figured out correctly.
  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: Shorter ESPN- Marcus Stroman is short! How can he succeed when he is so short? So many good pitchers are tall. Tall, tall, tall! Hall of famer Jim Bibby was tall! Also Marcus Stronan is short! It's what ESPN does: they pick topics ahead of time that will "tell the story" and hammer on them for the whole game whether they're actually the story of this game or not. I mean, has any player except for Alonso, Harper, and Stroman even been mentioned in this game?
  19. Can't tell y'all how much I love it when my baseball games come with a constant graphic telling me when that all important Notre Dame/Louisville game is on.
  20. Retiring just five of the first eleven batters faced is not a good sign moving forward.
  21. A's give us a preview of how things are likely to go if and when they meet up with the Yanx in October. Up 4-0 heading into the 8th with a combined two-hitter, A's hurlers give up 3 in the 8th, and then start the 9th by serving up a homer to the first batter of the inning (Gardner) and then a homer to the second (Mike Ford) Thank You, Please Arrive Home Safely Oakland winds up taking the season series 4-2 (all games over the last two weeks) but that was after winning the first four and essentially having none of these games mean everything to them and not much to the Yanx.
  22. THIS Sam Haggerty? https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hagger000samhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hagger000sam Why? Looks like speed, walks, and multiple defensive positions to me. 23 of 27 steals this season across two levels; OBA = 106 points above his BA for his career (65-70 is about average); plays (or at least has played) SS, 3B, 2B, & OF Not a bad set of skillz to have on a bench.
  23. As with Jason Vargas yesterday, tonight we're going to knock Zach Eflin the fuck out of the box
  24. ... (avi wuz here)
  25. Sounds like somebody is mad he didn't get a call-up.
