1. Well, it's hard to say they coasted into post-season with 100 &103 win totals in the last two full seasons (on pace for 89 last year) but, yeah, this year has an early whiff of struggling to stay atop mount .500

4. =bmfc1 post_id=61268 time=1618701146 user_id=73] 14 K's out of 18 outs but the Mets are behind b/c of two bad fielding plays. That'll teach him to not strike out everyone.
5. Edgy MD wrote: deGrom sadly eligible for a six-inning complete game here. That sentence shouldn't be allowed to exist in the English language.
6. V - R !! That was a very gutsy, and I'm not sure smart, send. 2nd & 3rd, no outs, top of the order ... On the other hand, running for McCann was absolutely the right call.

8. Willets Point wrote: Totally academic question here, but if Fuentes had two strikes and hit a playable fly ball in foul territory, would you want the fielder to let it drop to give deGrom a chance at 10 straight Ks? Hell No!!!

10. Even before the error + triple, I was thinking that this was looking like your typical deGrom game ... with all the negative connotations that brings.
11. =G-Fafif post_id=61189 time=1618685271 user_id=55] Facing Chi-Chi Gonzalez.
12. Haven't they learned yet that getting the leadoff man on kills our chances of scoring?!?
13. Yanx lose to TBR again today dropping them to 5-9 Of course it's wise not to make too much of this so early, it's an ugly winning percentage ("on pace for" 58 wins) but still just 4 games under .500, a gap which can disappear within a week. And the Yanx have actually gone 5-8 thru their first 13 games three times now in the last six seasons and wound up winning 84 & 103 games the previous two times (2016 & '19). But this time feels different somehow, the record's bad AND they look bad in the process.
14. Surprise #1 (and by 'Surprise' I mean no surprise at all): the thrown balls, lots of them, came from the RF bleachers. Question #1: Where did all the baseballs come from? I mean, did a whole group pre-decide to bring in their own, and by own I mean BP souvenirs they previously grabbed from six year-olds, just in case the game sucked, and somehow got them all through security?
15. It was a Fugly game by the home squad: lots of BBs issued, Boone started an 'Opener' seemingly for no reason other than to show that he could, errors, two-out hits allowed. Plus they were getting one-hit for much of the game by Michael Wacha. In other words, it was a beautiful thing.
16. Braves 5 - Cubs 2 today at Wrigley 7 runs, 9 inning game, 4:02
17. Not scheduling night games on Saturdays in April would be an idea they might want to consider.
18. The Braves tried very hard to lose all of their four-gamer vs the Marlins, including by giving up the lead in a 2-run 9th inning this afternoon, but they came with two of their own in the bottom half to eke out their lone win in the series. None of the Atlanta regulars are hitting except for Acuna who now has 7 HRs and is hitting near .500 And then there's Pablo Sandoval. He's appeared in ten of their 13 games, all as a PH'er: he's 3 for 8 w/2 BBs, all three are HRs, all three have put the Braves ahead in late innings or tied up the game. His third was today w/2 on. He has 7 RBI on three swings. Patrick Corbin continues to take it on the chin for the Nats: 10 Runs (9 earned) thru 2 vs Arizona tonight. That's 15 RA in just over 6 innings/2 starts so far this season
19. The 2021 Mets: We play baseball every once in a while Not one of their better marketing slogans, but perhaps more accurate than some.
20. Maybe my favorite Fleetwood Mac song and this is a good version.
21. Edgy MD wrote: I think that's exactly what's going on. They're being told in Chelsea that we don't want you to remake the call. We want you to consider if it's clear and convincing that the original call was wrong. At least, that's my impression. And I think it may be working. If so, it would be the best thing to happen to the game in the last five years. I'm reluctant to declare this a trend after just two weeks, but anecdotally it appears that could be the case.
22. Maybe Manfred has been reading the bricks I've been throwing through his window and has passed the word about not overturning coin flip calls.
23. We're gonna Diaz-proof this Sucka!
24. It certainly beats hitting a guy in the ass with a pitch!
