  1. I'd like to say that this is Unfuckinbelievable but, at this point, getting a timely hit would be the more Unfuckinbelievable outcome.
  2. Nice running Petey!
  3. =Centerfield post_id=61914 time=1619196941 user_id=65] What happened to Soto? Out for 3-4 years I'm hoping?
  4. No Scherzer in this series, also no Strasburg and no Soto. This would be a very nice weekend to wake up and start hitting.
  5. Runner on 2nd no outs = 0 Runner on 3rd no outs = 0
  6. Hey Dom, lemme whisper something in your ear: LAY OFF THE HIGH SHIT!!!!
  7. Walk sets up the GIDP, but it also gets a batter up with a fresh count.
  8. Pillar will be the 'Manfred Man' to start the 10th. In the Reds/Snakes game today, ARZ scored 6 in the top half only to see Cincy score three times in the bottom and get the tying run to the plate in the form of Joey Votto (he K'd)
  9. The 7 pitch inning by Kimbrel means we'll likely see him again if we wind up forcing this game into the 10th
  10. That's even worse than us stranding Conforto on 2nd w/no outs.
  11. And now one pitch into the new inning we get a replay review break!
  12. So we had the 2+ minute half inning break, then Villar gets hit by the 1st pitch of the inning, that leads the more like a 3 minute pitching change break, one batter later we have a mound conference break because the Mets send up the most obvious PH on their bench, that conference goes so well that a double off the wall is followed by another pitching change break. And now three pitches later we're on to the next hslf-inning break. It's such a shame they can't find a way to cut down on dead time. Oh well, maybe the universal DH will do the trick.
  13. If you can't change the pitcher then the coach shouldn't be allowed out there for a conference.
  14. SR-F: works quickly, throws strikes, does squats. What's not to like? (except for those ugly-ass arm tats)
  15. Not only is Oliver Perez still pitching, but he's doing so with a head full of gray hair.
  16. =Fman99 post_id=61827 time=1619140529 user_id=86] Have the Mets ever had any other players whose last names were hyphenated? I can't think of any.
  17. Sean Reid-Foley sounds like a House of Lords member
  18. Reds hit 6 HRs against the DBacks this afternoon, AND scored 3 runs in the 10th inning and still managed to lose the game. Padres & Dodgers at it again, this time for a four game set in LA starting tonight.
  19. =MFS62 post_id=61804 time=1619138529 user_id=60] Down 1-0. They're doomed.
  20. Seven years of evidence is enough. Th[CROSSOUT]e shift[/CROSSOUT]is continued refusal to do anything but trying to yank the ball to the pull side is harming baseball and must go. The career of Jay Bruce—what it was and what it could have been—is the canary in the coal mine. It is too late for Bruce to become a more well-rounded hitter and develop a two-strike swing, but not for the next generation of hitters—and fans.
  21. That trio from Rice was the year prior to Pelfrey and the Mets picked the first of them so, conditional on the wording and the timing, it seems like an odd statement to make. My point was that after someone or some trend fails there are suddenly no shortage of folks who claim they saw it coming all along. That the Rice coach abused his hurlers and/or taught them incorrectly was well known in all four corners of the world ... except apparently when they were being selected as three of the first eight picks in the draft by people paid to know that kind of stuff. A few drafts earlier it had been Mark Prior who was the 1st pitcher/2nd overall (to Joe Mauer) pick and who came with raves of sound mechanics backed by monster legs (Calf-Zilla!) which would combine to make him almost immune to breaking down. A few years later he would throw his last ML pitch at the age of 25 which was the first time I remember hearing about the dreaded "Inverted W" mechanics so of course! he was destined for failure, anyone could see that. And try finding a Ryan Leaf supporter today even though, back when the debate was he vs Peyton Manning, there was a sizable minority (20 - 30% ?) who thought him the better choice.
  22. That's quite a Hildenberger our staff has left out there on the field tonight.
  23. Twins had almost as bad a game as we're having. After getting a 2R 'leadoff' HR in extras, they cough up 3 to the A's in the bottom half via Walk, Walk, Error, Error Oakland has now won 11 straight after starting the season 0-6
