  1. I've said here before that one of the things I like about baseball is that I never tire of seeing a well-turned DP. But Guillorme and Lindor take that concept to a new level.
  2. Don't like that double steal attempt with two outs ... particularly when the back side runner weighs 240
  3. I used to listen to the goofy antics of Jayce and Rowdy's Morning Zoo program on KPOW ... but I eventually outgrew that type of humor.
  4. Da Brews cruised thru April and May ... but a 2-9 start to June (>twice as many runs allowed as scored) has dropped them out of 1st in NLC a game behind StL And it's not like they were playing a murderers row of teams over this recent stretch: CHC, SDP, PHI, WSH Their pitching was at or near the top early on but is now no better than 7th in RA/G
  5. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: If a lefty reliever named Nick Zwack doesn't erase all of Orosco, Franco, Looper, Wagner and McGraw's lefthanded relief records for the Mets--combined--there is no justice in this world. None. Yeah, but we thought (Hoped?) that about Josh Smoker too. Following his two NYM seasons, Smoker appeared in 8 ML games.
  6. -- Braves continued to be JUNe-Defeated (12 straight) by jumping all over the Nats early last night and hanging on for a 9-5 win But it came at the expense of an Ozzie Albies broken foot which is obviously going to keep the 2nd-sacker sidelined for a while. -- In the other game which pits NL East teams against each other whilst we're messing with the NLC leaders, the Phils walked-off the Marlins for their 10th win in their last 11 -- The Yanquis didn't play last night but I think Matt Carpenter hit a HR anyway. Carpenter, who spent 2020 & 2021 hitting a combined .176/.313/.291 (70 OPS+) w/7 HRs in 300+ ABs for the Cardinals, and then was released earlier this season from a minor league deal with Texas, is 8/24 since being picked up by the Yanx with 6 HRs, one 2B, 13 RBI!! And just to repeat, that's in 10 games/24 ABs
  7. They can get double use out of those by wearing them on Pride Night too.
  8. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=95876 time=1655133680 user_id=68] The home racing stripes wouldn't debut until the next season [1983] ..
  9. No 2nd inning blues tonight.
  10. Edwin gets a 1st out K on a nasty 2-4 pitch.
  11. No need to mention how big that extra run is ... but I guess I just did.
  12. I'd start the 9th with Diaz, but wouldn't be shy about having either Dr Smith and/or Ottavino warming if necessary.
  13. That was an ill-timed walk.
  14. One fer two on reckless base running moves this inning.
  15. I'm perhaps the wrong guy to address this as I don't watch any of these Marvel Superhero movies in the first place ... but that commercial they just showed for THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER (or something like that) makes it look like either the dumbest movie ever made in the history of ever, or Marvel is, for some reason, making fun of their own movies by doing a parody of themselves.
  16. =kcmets post_id=95785 time=1655081319 user_id=53] Added bonus: no Mike Trout on ESPN Deportes.
  17. ESPN's production ideas involve a series of interviews occasionally interrupted by a baseball game.
  18. Fortunate to get out of that with only one allowed.
  19. Good Lord the Cubs suck!!! They held the Yanx to one run thru 12 innings on Friday ... and lost. On Saturday it was six HRs allowed in a 3? inning span. But those were highlights compared to today. 75 Pitches just to get thru 2 innings, three consecutive walks, and a dropped pop-up ten feet from the plate only begin to describe the ugliness. Only one HR so far, but it's also 8-1 Yanx as they start the 3rd btw, the Cubs P.C. has made (at least) two mound visits so far, including one after the third hitter of the game. One was followed by those three straight BBs, the other with a 3R HR New Rule: If you insist that a mound visit is necessary 'to settle your guy down' and then he suxx ever worse after your imparted wisdom ... you lose mound visit privileges for a month.
  20. Lee also made an ill-advised dive for a ball with several runners on. He whiffed on it as the ball rolled to the wall which both cleared the bases and handed 1B Jared Walsh a cycle completing triple.
  21. A 5-5 west coast swing will sit much better in the gut than a 4-6 one, especially as the rest of the NL East seems determined to go undefeated during the month of June.
  22. Yeah, there's a difference between 'I'm wearing it fashionably long' vs 'All the guys at the fillin' station where I work wear it this way'.
  23. When does this Marsh guy have to get back to his day job as a roadie for the Tedeschi-Trucks band?
