  2. Phils scored twice in the 10th then held the Nats to one and completed the sweep. So, we gained a full game on the Braves & Marlins, lost 1/2 game to Philly, and gained 1-1/2 on Washington. Yanx won by several touchdowns as usual. This time the Blue Jays were the victims.
  3. Phils on verge of sweeping a DH in DC. Grounder to SS and the game is ... [CROSSOUT]over[/CROSSOUT]TIED as DD Gregorous throws it away!! Defense and bullpen. Defense and bullpen.
  4. Yeah, good thing Pete banked that Salami or this would be getting a bit tense right about now.
  5. The replay review showed the ball clearing the fence but the ruling is sending Pete back to 2nd anyway.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: And Buck is still in the dugout, you say? He seemed to accept their explanation but of course the decision was made by the umps who aren't in the stadium so who's he going to cuss out?
  7. =kcmets post_id=96452 time=1655514939 user_id=53] They got kinda hosed on the runner placement after the non-triple play.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure what happened whilst I hobbled to the bullpen. The Mets only got one run on that non-TP? No, they got ZERO runs on the non-TP!!! The run scored on a subsequent single. Y'know, just like Guillorme's little bingle that preceded it.
  9. I remember, when expanded (not just HRs) replay reviews started, someone worried about the totally unpredictable and arbitrary nature of trying to figure out where the runners would have been if the incorrect call had been initially called correctly. Oh wait, that someone was me. No, I was told, it'll be easy to figure it out. And that they just ruled that a ball not caught off the wall at the furthest spot of the ballpark was a single.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not into Lopez suddenly finding his groove. Yeah, the whole scoring the first three batters of the game then doing virtually nothing since is not a good strategy.
  11. Keith: [Marlins catcher Stallings] is a lot like Fran Healy' Me: Does he yap incessantly too?
  12. Jazz was tracked down on the Chisholm trail.
  13. =G-Fafif post_id=96416 time=1655507788 user_id=55] Wayne Randazzo is off this weekend. Bayside's Howie Rose is joined by Sheepshead Bay's Lee Mazzilli.
  14. K (Riley) - BB (Olson) - HBP (Td'A) - 1st pitch FO-9 (Ozuna) - BB (Duvall) - Arcia grounds out to 1st and so the streak(s) is/are busted!! And so the immortal words of Joaquin Adujar prove true once again, that baseball can be summed up in just one word: Youneverknow!
  15. Phils win - now 13-2 in June. Nats fall to 5-11 ... but the Cubs take a 1-0 lead thanks to some smoking hot Jonathan Villar action [Leadoff BB, Sac Bunt to 2nd, Steal of 3rd, Sac Fly] David Robertson on for the save. Two streaks fall if the home team can hold on here: Cubs = 10 losses, Braves = 14 W's
  16. Clues: - If we're talking about a player who held down a job in the winter I'm thinking that we probably need to adjust our sites to someone who played in '70s and more likely the '60s - being a recent CPF'er, I don't think we know where Roger lives or is from, but the odds would say east coast so I'd suggest scrapping all them Californians and Texans Other than that I got nuthin'
  17. Two day games being played on this Friday afternoon - and it's all-NL East action all the time. - Braves are in Wrigley where Friday afternoon games in the summer are common. What's uncommon, particularly considering the Cubs have been allowing around 9/RA per game lately, is that it's a scoreless contest heading for bottom 8 - And the Phils are in DC for the first of two where the Nats have the tying runs on base with one out in the 9th
  18. That 'Strat Page' (whatever that is) is using a lot of words to tell you that Marte is fast, something we kinda already knew that and (don't want to speculate too much here) is likely the reason he was pinch-running. The question at hand is his instructions and/or thought process at the time.
  19. The other odd note about the 8th inning play was Nido immediately going over to check on Renfroe and help him up. At the risk of yapping about 'back in my day when men were men' type of bullshit, that was the last thing I wanted to see after that play with a man on 3rd and an out still to get. He took a mitt to the face ... Big Fuckin' Deal. Send him some flowers after the game if it makes you feel better. I remember back when Francouer was here and he slid, somewhat hard, into an opposing catcher (don't even remember whether he was out or safe) and then immediately bounced up to check if he was alright. Gary virtually exploded at seeing this saying that the catcher's condition should be none of Frenchie's concern. Fast forward a decade or more to this similar, if reversed, play last night, and none of the three in the booth said a word, either not seeing it or becoming so used to it that they took no notice.
  20. The so-far-mysterious answer as to what's up with Escobar will have a say in determining what's next.
  21. The fact that the infield was in caused the sloppy throw and footwork since the IF'ers were set-up for, and only anticipated, a throw home if the ball came to them. I think (1B) Tellez simply assumed Marte had broken for home and instantly decided he had no shot at him so went for the GiDP as his only hope. But the DP wasn't going to happen as he's now throwing to a back-pedaling (and somewhat late-arriving) SS because of course he was playing in too. Marte obviously should have broken on contact (I can't believe Buck sent him out there to do anything else) but at least he read the play correctly as it unfolded.
  22. Ron & Keith were all over those last two innings, analyzing and first guessing every move and potential move, and getting most, if not all, of them right.
  23. Keith had it right: "Brutal choice" by 3rd base coach
