    i like to think that on strearns' first day on the job he called in billy eppler for his one-on-one intro meeting, and it satarted off like, "have you noticed what the braves are doing in atlanta? explain to me why you hadn't locked up pete alonso yet?" and that was that. Of course Eppler could counter with, 'Have YOU noticed that they're doing quite nicely after NOT resigning Freddie?'

    The news of Wakefield's illness was 'broken' by Curt Shilling on a podcast last week much to the anger of other BoSox friends and the team itself which knew of the diagnosis but kept mum out of respect to the Wakefield family. The other half of that is that Tim's wife is battling a serious cancer diagnosis of her own.

    I'm going to be away the next couple days so tonight's rain out means I've seen my last NYM game until next April. This makes me sad.

    The Marlins, down 3-0 thru 7 in Pittsburgh and desperate to avoid needing a Monday make-up game to secure a post-season slot, score 4 in the top of the 8th. So one run wins have been their specialty this season (32-13) and they're currently holding a one run lead in the late innings of two separate games.

    Doesn't look/sound like this one will resume tonight. And if it does it'll probably be without me.

    If this game ends like this it'll be typical Marlins 2023: outscored 14-8 in the series while winning two of three. Coming into tonight MIA are six games over .500 despite being at a negative 55 RS/RA

    I like the LHP vs Chisholm and it's kind if cool that it's Anthony Kay with the game on the line. Not ideal maye, but kinda cool.
