  1. An actual hit which followed an actual ball leaving the infield [FO 8]. So naturally those things were preceded by a CS. The Phils, meanwhile, have stolen 856 bases in this series, all of them uncontested.
  2. Can't clinch tonight. Everybody who needed to lose today, won [CIN, CHC, MIA]
  3. 12 batters, 12 outs, six Ks, not a single ball hit solidly, not a single contact coming anywhere close to leaving the infield.
  4. All right, I'll say it: this game has Perfect Game written all over it.

Rays then score twice in bottom 9 to win on a walk-off single. - Reds are up 8-0 after 3 vs Pirates but perhaps they best not commence enumerating pre-born domestic fowl just yet. Holy shit!!! I thought I was joking in that final paragraph... but the Reds went on to LOSE their game on Saturday!! With Cincy up 9-0 thru 4, the Pirates scored 13 unanswered to take a four run lead. Reds scored two in the 8th and another in the 9th which was just enough to lose 13-12 Wow!

  8. Schwarber not even getting pulled for defense these days it seems.
  9. Even with T. Turner running, I think trying for the DP might have been the better option.
  10. For an esoteric record such as 'Most HRs as a Catcher' [subject to blah blah] then, yes, only those HRs hit while in the lineup as a catcher would count towards that record.
  11. DJS over-slides 2nd base on a SB attempt. Damn oven mitts!!
  12. Bohm HRs to LF maybe because of the wind. Harper HR'd to RF despite the wind.
  13. Not sure that was the smartest move with no one out ... but it worked so I can't complain too much. Besides, runner on 3rd/no one out for this year this year might be shorter odds.
  14. Alvarez falling out of the ROY race might have a bit more to do with him hitting sub-.200 w/a grand total of 3 HRs since the end of July than would Buck failing to allow him a chance to chase some obscure 'record' by slotting him at DH in a random game with a week to go in the season.
  15. Are there going to be Any sporting events in the northestern U.S. this weekend as tropical storm Ophelia moves up the coast? Braves @ Nats already postponed for today, as is DBacks @ Yanx. And it's not like a DH on Sunday is a guaranteed solution. Mets in Philly, both and tomorrow, becomes problematic for the same reason and the BoSox are scheduled to host the ChiSox at 4PM today. Also the Jets (and Commanders) are hosting games on Sunday @ 1PM
  16. The last eight NYM HRs have all been solo
  17. Mets up 2-0 thru 5 ... or at least they are on the radio. I have no idea what the score is on Apple+
  18. The Yanx have four guys in their starting lineup tonight with uniform numbers in the 90s
  19. Edgy MD wrote: It would've taken a pretty bad throw for Lindor to score on that hit ... It would have taken Realmuto abandoning his position to go take a piss in the clubhouse for Lindor to score on that hit.
  20. I think you leave Locastro in to hit for his speed if he gets on. If you PH Vogelbach then who runs?
  21. Pop ups with runners on, the official NYM AB of 2023
  22. NYM batters choose not to participate in that whole hard-hit ball thing.
  23. If Nimmo slides into 2nd there he might be called safe on replay review.
  24. Cuz chick's dig the stand up triple. More surprising is that they quickly plated the run instead of resorting to 3 Ks/pop outs
  25. - Braves loss this afternoon was their fifth in six games. It was also their 55th on the year so they can no longer get to the '86 NYM mark of 108 wins, a threshold which seemed reachable until just recently. At 97 wins they're still likely to surpass 100. The Dodgers are the only other NL that could do so, while the Rox are the only possible 100 game loser this year. - Yanx loss tonight, to Toronto, drops them back to .500 I want this one so bad I can taste it. Or maybe that's the bourbon. - A's and Royals have already lost more than 100, but neither will lose 120
