1. Holy Shit!! Watching LAD/ARZ via slight delay as I catch up, the Snakes go deep for four solo HRs, all off starter Lance Lynn, in the 3rd inning. One was even called a HR until called back via replay, and then HR'd on the next pitch anyway. Had never been four HRs in one inning in post-season history before. Now there has been.
2. The Braves, who scored more runs than just about any team ever, have been held to 0, 5, and 2 thru 3 games and are lucky to have not already been run from the playoffs. Four of their seven runs came late in Game 2 to steal a late win 8-4
3. Bottom 9th for Twins, down by one: K, K, K ... leaving Carlos Correa on deck as their season ends. 7th straight ALCS for the Astros as an all-Texas series looms.
4. Twinkies have three innings to save their season. Down 3-2 in bottom 7th Hector Neris in to pitch for Houston. Isn't he the guy we used to beat up on Philly? Or, perhaps more accurately, he used to beat himself with walks and other funk. oe: but here he goes 1-2-3 w/2 Ks to send the game to the 8th

6. 8-2, mostly via the HR: Castellanos, Harper (3R), Harper, Turner But it's still just the end of 6 (despite ~2:20 into things) and Nola is already out of the game (prematurely IMO) to a team that was down by four late yesterday and then didn't even need their half of the 9th to win it.
7. Phils' bats make Bryce Elder age even quicker by putting up a four-spot in the 3rd inning following a spotless 1st & 2nd. 4-1, Phillies still batting. Make that 6-1
8. Today's AL games have had the drama taken out of them early on.
9. Oh My, AGAIN!!!!!! A leaping catch at the CF wall by Michael Harris turns into a game-ending DP when Harper was doubled off of 1st
10. Diamond=#000000]backs - Do=#000000]dg=#000000]ers
11. A Boy Named Seo wrote: MLB app shows this game and Phils/Braves both on TBS. Who picks up the Dodgers game while PHI/ATL is still on? TNT
12. - Wheeler tossing a no-no thru 5 (1 E the only blemish) - Max Fried, who battled blister issues in Sept and hadn't throw a ML game in 18 days, issued several walks and two out hits ... then a 2R Bomb to Realmuto. - Phils also running the bases well. Fried lasted just 4. Braves, the team which usually seems to have a 3R lead in the 1st inning every day, have yet to score at all thru 14 innings. - 4-0 lead in top 6 and are threatening more (2 on/1 out, Harper up) ... but they get out of it with consecutive foul outs
13. I never bought into that logic. But my point was that there are games hwere you lose by three while having the tying run to the plate at on several occasions. The O's though were always multiple batters away from that after getting ambushed for nine runs in the 2nd & 3rd innings.
14. 5-0 as Houston starter Framber Valdez is chased in the 5th. ex-Stro Carlos Correa has knocked in three of the five mini-soda runs
15. 3-0 Twinkies trying to even up the series, stros batting bottom 4
16. O's managed to close to 11-8 but were never really in the game. It was close only after a 3R 9th inning HR
17. Just tuning in for my first MLB playoff action of 2023 (been outta town and mostly outta touch) and am being treated to the O's doing an implosion act. 9-2 Texas, 1 out top 3 I've seen four ABs: BB, BB, BB, GS !!! 14 of the first 21 Rangers reached base: 7 Hits, 7 BBs off of four Baltimore pitchers
18. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: It sux that this and the Braves -Phils series gets a day off today. Yup. But it's Sunday so MLB is running away from football. The NL is also the FOX series and I suspect that FOX didn't want to compete with themselves (NFL on FOX opposite MLB on FS1)
19. =metirish post_id=139103 time=1696789457 user_id=72] This thread like Kershaw is shot
20. Jim Poole, LH reliever for eight teams over 11 seasons from 1990 - 2000, noted mostly for surrendering the 1995 WS HR to David Justice which proved to be the winning margin in Atlanta's clinching win. 57, ALS
21. Sketchy internet service in the outback.
22. =Gwreck post_id=139025 time=1696636685 user_id=56] I didn't point to Atlanta as a “model to emulate.”
23. That was going to be my second guess.
24. Of course it's hypothetical and I'm not advocating for Not signing Pete, particularly since you need depth in the minors to pull off that kind of move. Merely pointing out that there's always more than one way to skin a cat and, if one is going to point to Atlanta as a model to emulate, they've done quite well by not chasing even their own FAs into their 30s, Freddie and Swanson recently but also going back to the days of Andruw Jones and Raffy Furcal plus others in between.
