He had NL MVP as Votto - McCutcheon - Wright, then Beltran and Melky Cabrera, which is always arguable but seems fairly logical to me. For CY he had Dickey ahead of Strasburg, Greinke, Cain, and Cueto For ROY he put Nieuwenhuis 4th behind Harper, AZ pitcher Wade Miley, and the recently called-up Atlanta SS Andrelton Simmons And then he even placed Terry 2nd for MoY behind Davey and ahead of Clint Hurdle

But it couldn't be all good tonight. Giants were all over the Nats early. They had about a thousand hits early but kept leaving guys on and should have led by a lot more than just 5-1 And then they went and blew the entire lead. The game was 5-5 in the 9th as the Nats loaded the bases with no outs. But then a slow-bouncer to 2nd by Morse produced a force play at home. Then another slow-ish bouncer to 2nd by the slow-footed LaRoche allowed the Giants to go for two. They got the out at 2nd and the relay to first was in plenty of time ... but was bounced and not scooped so the Nats won it. Fuckin' Giants.

It's not that Duda or Niuewenhuis should have gotten to any specific ball tonight, it's just that through late breaks, odd angles, poor reads, or various other less-than-perfect tactics they've failed to steal any hits away from the Phils (the way Victorino just did a half-inning ago to the Mets) or limit the damage to hits that have occurred. Lots of hits for the Phils tonight even though they're not exactly smacking the ball all over the park. Most of their hits have either found holes or been poorly played by our OFers. Duda and Nieuwenhuis aren't reminding anyone of Mays and Clemente out there defensively.

Nationals turning back the clock tonight ... to 1924!! In addition to usual practice of having both teams (Giants are in town) wear 1924 replica jerseys, the grounds crew will also be dressed in full 1920�s attire and gameday staff will don newsie caps and skimmer hats. I often find certain things to like in the movies of his that I've seen [Rushmore, Tannenbaums] but end up being under-whelmed by the product as a whole.

Yasmani Grandal - the Cuban-born, U-of-Miami 1st round (2010) draftee and recently call-up Padres catcher - is sporting a .300/.300/.900 slash line. After 6 ML games (4 as a starter) he's 6 for 20 with 4 HRs. His first three ML hits were HRs. He then hit two singles. Then, PH-ing last night, he knocked a 2R tie-breaking HR. Nice start kid. P.S. Two of the HRs were hit righty, the other two lefty.
