  1. Piazza's retirement announcement is here: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/mets/ BTW, we're the "greatest fans in the world."

For a change, Joe Morgan was absolutely right about something - an umpire should never overcall another ump's decision unless he clearly saw that it was wrong. Obviously, none of these bozos were able to see where the ball hit, so they had no business at all overturning the third base umpire's call. It's not a question of whether the call was right or wrong. It's a question that they had no business disturbing the initial decision. And for that, they should be disciplined. This is a good point, TMF. Why did an ump farther from the ball overrule the call?

Im the one who ----ed it up so you can put that in your paper. Bolts and nuts, I ----ed up. Youve just got to move on. No one feels worse about it than I do. I'm sure that satisfies MLB and that there will be no repercussions, such as his not ump'ing the All-Star Game or the playoffs. Delgado misses a homerun and 2 RBI when he will be seeking a new contract. And my fantasy team misses the same stats as well--if I finish out of the money because of one homerun and/or two RBI, I will send a bill to Bob Davidson.
  4. Good night gang! That was fun!
  5. Game 1 -- RHP John Maine (5-2, 2.81) vs. LHP Tom Glavine (1-1, 4.41), 1:10 p.m. Game 2 -- RHP Claudio Vargas (0-1, 2.84) vs. RHP Jorge Campillo (0-0, 1.27), 7:10 p.m. Wednesday: RHP Mike Pelfrey (2-4, 4.17) vs. RHP Jair Jurrjens (4-3, 2.82), 7:10 p.m. Thursday: LHP Johan Santana (5-2, 3.30) vs. RHP Tim Hudson (6-3, 3.06), 7:10 p.m.
  6. The Daily News talked with the guy in the LF corner: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/mets/
  7. But can they dance to the new 3 Doors Down album that "drops" on Tuesday? Serious, what the hell was that about? "Instant analysis" of stuff that's happened over the past 3 hours? Geez!
  8. I guess Willie wants Ollie to pitch the 8th to save the pen for the DH on Tuesday.
  9. Great one Zvon!
  10. Since when does a play-by-play guy act as a DJ?
  11. I would like to take this opportunity to give "props" to my wife... we watch Desperate Housewives together on Sunday nights (it's what we do)... tonight is the season finale and when she heard that the Mets were playing the MFYs on Sunday night, she didn't even ask if we were going to watch or complain about not watching.
  12. You know who though the Mike Riley made a great call? Rich Garcia: http://espn.go.com/page2/s/list/readers/worstcalls.html
  13. I checked John Delcos' board to see the reaction to The Call. I found this gem: Ben from Flushing May 18th, 2008 at 9:40 pm Someone please tell me where Jon Miller's lips end and Jeter's rear end begins.
  14. The game wouldn't be slowed down to the extent that Morgan fears if replay was only used for fair/foul calls on potential homers.
  15. Angel Hernandez welcomes Mike Riley into the Circle of Hell.
  16. ARGH! More bad baserunning by the Mets. Why didn't he try to get into a rundown so Marlon could get to 2d?
  17. Good thing for the parents in the Cialis commercial that their daughter didn't walk in the door and surprise them 10 minutes later!
  18. You're seeing what those of us from out of NY go through every single road game... the rehash of the Mets woes, the rehash of the you-know-what... it's why I go through the trouble of pausing the game on my DVR and trying to time the FAN internet feed to the picture. I'll be doing it on Tuesday.

  20. I don't want to think about where the Mets would be without the trade that many of us (including me) weren't happy about.
  21. I saw a dopey Old Spice commercial today where a guy is playing softball and he goes into a head first slide from second to home. It made me think of Jeter's slide yesterday--except that the guy in the commercial actually touched the base.
  22. G-Fafif wrote: Yankees suck. They just do. It's inherent in being a Yankee.
  23. MFS62 wrote: More Little League Bullshit: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/16278448/detail.html Later What a great field they have--a replica of the "Green Monster", a fence, dugouts--they must use the concession stand to help fund the league. But that doesn't mean you tell a 7 year old that he can't play because his Mom had to work late. That's not fair to the kid, his coach, or the team. They should have told the Mom that she had to work two nights instead of one.
  24. Willie had to go to Wagner in that situation, but didn't Billy once say that it was tough, or uncomfortable, to pitch and then rest and then go out again?
