KBurkhardtSNY Oliver Perez just said again that he isn't going to the minors to work on his game. "Scott, this is Omar. Your client will not be on our major league roster after tonight's game. We've already called Buffalo and Pat Misch will be in a Mets uniform tomorrow night. Your client will not. It's your choice: either he is sent to Binghamton, where he can work his way back to the majors and possibly be a part of a special season, or he will be cut. It's your choice Scott and you have until the end of tonight's game to make that choice."

I'm not sure why they slotted Niese for Saturday. With two off days, they don't need him to start until 6/12. This gives Santana a week between starts. I thought that you want your best guy out there more often, not less. (Thanks for the good work, gwreck.)

Santana had thrown 105 pitches but he mowed them down the last several innings. There was no frigging reason to take him out other than a) pitch count or he said he was tired (which he wouldn't). Of course, don't forget bases loaded, nobody out, and no runs.

Three called third strikes with runners in scoring position.

This is a big story in DC as fans either assumed, or were mislead (depending on who you believe), to think that Strasburg would make his debut on June 4. The place is nearly sold-out and fans feel they should have been told sooner than this week when he would pitch. Some think that this was done on purpose to get a gate. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2010/05/report_stephen_strasburg_to_de.html http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/05/the_june_4_near-sellout.html (For me, I wouldn't go for free--I was offered freebies by the Susan G. Komen people as it's Susan G. Komen night and I'm running in their 5K the next day viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13794 The Mets are playing when the Nationals are playing so there's no way, even for free, that I'd watch other teams when the Mets are in action.)

Blanco threw out two runners last night. Everybody contributed. A IGT, like a Mets win, is a team effort.

No help here: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8423255&c_id=nym You'd think they would have considered camera locations when designing the place. We have to look at the fans in the vicinity to know if it's fair.

Great job by soupcan and soupcan's son. I have to tell my son that the bar for offspring wisecracks has been raised.

Hessman--how many minor leaguers have a receding hair line? I like that he answered "eliminate the DH" when that would close one path for him to get to the majors.

soupcan gets a BOC nomination for that and a nomination for CPF member of the month.

"I think he is right when he asserts that proven talent is more valuable than a prospect's potential for a team that thinks it can win NOW." A logical position. Let's say that it's one month from now and the Mets are where they are now--a playoff spot is a reasonable expectation--and Seattle calls about a trade involving Cliff Lee. Would Mejia and Thole get that done? If not, would you include F. Martinez? That's a lot but you're getting a lot right now.

Concourse reopened at Citi Field, according to @MetsWFAN and @Ledger_NYMets. Ledger_NYMets Mets say the concourse was closed because police were checking on a camera bag that was left unattended. It's no longer a concern.

Mike Hessman with 2 homers today, including a 10th inning walk-off, giving him 16 for the year. Manny Acosta gets the win. Murph goes 0-5. Two more hits for J. Feliciano. Francoeur's using "Southern Voice" by Tim McGraw. Works on more than one level.
