  1. 5th of 7 straight west coast night games. Tomorrow was supposed to be on FOX but FOX dumped the game.
  2. WTF? The Mets are busting their butts out there and that hump can't even bend down a little to follow the ball. Bud Selig who obviously doesn't care about the quality of his umpires. Ironically, mlb.tv just ran a commercial for umpire school.
  3. I love the analysis of the Caesar's Palace commercial. My son and I have picked it apart but never came up with the possibility that she's a hooker and asked how he had money to gamble. We've wondered if he's diving in the pool in his underwear unless he was wearing a bathing suit in his room.
  4. If we're going to stay NL-only, we should cut an OF spot and 2 or 3 bench spots so more players are available as FAs. I recommend a switch to ESPN. The interface is far superior to Yahoo!
  5. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: I'm working with audio only. Any Hollywood MLBS's in attendance this eve? Tom Hanks -- Major League Big Shot, there the whole game. No outward affiliation. Grew up outside SF, lives in SoCal. I'm thinking... NotMetly. He grew up in Oakland and was a fan of the Athletics. I remember when he went on a baseball road trip w/Ron Howard and others. Since they have a few bucks, they did the trip the way you'd want to: they rented a bus and hired a driver.
  6. Despite the above Jeter-propaganda programming, Michael Kay actually said today that the media is "sharpening its claws"to get Jeter because the media loves to build up its heroes to knock them down." Those aren't exact quotes because I was momentarily stunned at the stupidity of Kay--stupid comments even by his standards.
  7. MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PRODUCTIONS AND HBO TEAMING UP WITH 12-TIME All-STAR DEREK JETER TO PRODUCE ALL-ACCESS SHOW ON JETERS QUEST TO REACH 3,000 HITS Production Currently Under Way on DEREK JETER 3K, Set to Air Just Weeks After 3,000th Hit New York - HBO and Major League Baseball Productions are teaming up for a new documentary chronicling New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeters quest for his 3,000th career hit. The one-hour special, titled DEREK JETER 3K, will take viewers behind the scenes as Jeter attempts to reach the milestone. With the cooperation of Derek Jeter and the Yankees, MLB Productions will have extensive access to Jeter both at and away from the ballpark. He has agreed to allow MLB Productions camera crews to follow him on multiple occasions and in a variety of settings, including in his home and during rehabilitation from a calf injury. DEREK JETER 3K also will feature exclusive interview footage with the Yankee captain in the ensuing days after he achieves the milestone. Produced by MLB Productions in collaboration with HBO Sports, DEREK JETER 3K will include reflections on Jeters entire career, including footage in the MLB Productions archives from his early days with the Yankees through his five World Series Championships. The special will include new interviews with his family and friends as well as Yankees executives, Legends and teammates such as Hal Steinbrenner, Brian Cashman, Joe Girardi, Joe Torre, Curtis Granderson, Mariano Rivera, Dave Winfield, Minka Kelly, Billy Crystal, and many more. The special will debut on HBO a few weeks after the milestone is reached. In addition to a prime-time premiere and a full schedule of replays, the special also will be available to subscribers on HBO ON DEMAND and HBO GO. It has been a lot of fun working with HBO Sports and MLB Productions to capture this milestone in a special and unique way, said Jeter. Hopefully fans will enjoy getting to see a sneak peek at the journey. The buzz weve all seen during the buildup to this milestone is a clear indication of how Derek transcends the game on the field, and this is an ideal occasion for us to document what hes going through on a day-to-day basis, said Chris Tully, Major League Baseball Senior Vice President, Broadcasting. Were extremely grateful to Derek and the Yankees for granting us this level of access, and were excited to once again work with HBO. Derek Jeter is known for his grace and excellence both on and off the ball field, said Ross Greenburg, President, HBO Sports. This special will provide sports fans with a fascinating view of what Derek Jeter experiences during this memorable moment in baseball history. The 3,000 hit plateau is one of the most recognizable feats in our great game, said New York Yankees President Randy Levine. To have the days surrounding Dereks remarkable achievement chronicled by Major League Baseball Productions and HBO ensures that this historic milestone will be captured with the type of style and professionalism he has become so synonymous with. http://fangsbites.com/2011/07/hbo-mlb-productions-teaming-up-for-one-hour-special-on-derek-jeters-3000th-hit/
  8. Their manager wasn't as good a player as Keith Hernandez, no matter what MFY fans may claim. I was at Dodgers Stadium a year ago and loved it, despite the Mets getting shutout. It reminded me of Shea, but cleaner.
  9. With such a track record, why is Cuzzi still a major league ump? Does he have tenure, like a teacher? Maybe MLB is waiting for him to determine a World Series game first.
  10. Fantastic win. You gotta be happy for Bay.
  11. C'mon Jason. Lean into one.
  12. Who saw that coming? Way to go Terry!
  13. metirish--you're a very, very good friend to put on the MFY channel.
  14. Look at the MFY BS. The media will praise Girardi for "clever gamesmanship" rather than the bush league move it was. Even a MFY season ticket holder agrees: Keith Olbermann #Yankees hold up delayed 1st pitch of game v Mets by having SP Freddy Garcia walk across field. Manager should be ejected. No class.
  15. Phil Cuzzi with another bad call last night. Look at the video, below: the Mariners got screwed last night by Cuzzi, who can't count to four. That's the same Phil Cuzzi that helped the Mets win a game last July in SF and allegedly helped the Mets earlier this year against the Nationals (so this isn't a Mets rant). He also helped the MFYs win a playoff game against the Twins in 2009. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2011_07_02_sdnmlb_seamlb_1&mode=wrap
  16. Beltran makes it as a reserve.
  17. Joelsherman1 Joel Sherman Even if MRI report positive, Reyes already has been told not playing tomorrow after 6-hr flight to West Coast #Mets For what worth, Reyes left Citi for MRI telling #Mets people that hamstring was feeling better than expected to feel today
  18. Me: "Please don't hit into a double play. Please don't hit into a double play. It's OK to strike out. ARGH!"
  19. There's no sound on our FOX channels... I'm not sure if this is a bad thing.
  20. I have the FOX listings for tomorrow in another thread. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16472
  21. They know better than I do, but if you're doing something out of the norm--here, a switch-hitter batting righty against a RHP--aren't you admitting that you're in trouble.
  22. Fman99--according to metirish, we have to stay on point. He admonished me earlier for a TV related post.
  23. Agreed--Murphy should have caught that ball, no excuses needed from Keith.
