  1. Good report Gwreck. Daniel Schlereth's father is the guy on ESPN:
  2. Good point Ceetar. Why activate him to face Linecum and Cain (the guy that beaned him) then have him rest for 4 days (he'd probably skip the ASG but go anyway to sit) when he could be in the minors facing real pitching. There's no way around the MFPs staff unless he "needs" another few days of rehab games.
  3. It was nice to have a day without news of a Met injury, team finances or somebody saying something stupid. The only newsy item I heard was Ed Coleman telling Steve Somers that David Wright could be available before the ASB but it would make sense to hold him back until after the ASB.
  4. Fixed the locale of the MFY games. Too many MFY fans at "our" place. Like party-crashers or unwanted relatives.
  5. 13 games to go until the All-Star Break, 10 on the road with 3 at home against the other team in NY: 3 @ Detroit 3 vs. MFY 4 @ LA 3 @ SF. Predict the Mets record in these 13 games. I'll start: 8 and 5.
  6. I went to Bowie today to see Matt Harvey's AA debut. I wish I could tell you nothing but good things but I can't. He was not impressive. I hope he was just nervous or too strong (extra day of rest) or too hot or something. Before the game, I asked Wally (who was signing autographs) if he was going to join Davey Johnson in Washington. He said "I just talked with Davey." I asked if he was leaving and he said "not right now." Which could mean he's leaving tonight. Harvey threw almost nothing but fastballs in the 1st inning. He hit 94 on the radar. Bowie sat on the fastballs and got a run. In the 2d and 3d, he hit 96 on his fastball and then tried to establish his slider and change or curve (I couldn't tell from the 3B side). He struck out 2 on nice sliders but Bowie teed off on his fastball. In the 5th he tried to throw his fastball again most of the time but he was wild, walking two. Wally took him out after 4 2/3, 4 ER. Brad Holt pitched later in the game and was awful. Jean Luc Blaquiere: Montreal Canadian or B-Met? B-Met catcher: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=C&sid=t505&t=p_pbp&pid=444465 I wanted to see Matt Den Dekker who just joined the team. He went 0-5. Jordany Valespin had 2 hits, 1 SB (1 CS). Josh Satin hit for the cycle on Friday. Today, he got called out on strikes three times. The only impressive B-Mets were Brahiam Maldonado--.191 avg but 14 HR including a HR and triple today--and RP Ricky Brooks. Bowie 6, B-Mets 4.
  7. I'm watching him from the parking lot at the Bowie Motel 6. No, he's starting today.
  8. Isn't it the manager's job to vent on matters of this sort? Jeff W. should have said something to Terry ("why didn't you order someone to retaliate?") rather than going around him to the players.
  9. METS: 1. Jose Reyes (S) SS 2. Justin Turner ® 3B 3. Carlos Beltran (S) DH 4. Jason Bay ® LF 5. Scott Hairston ® RF 6. Ronny Paulino ® C 7. Daniel Murphy (L) 1B 8. Angel Pagan (S) CF 9. Ruben Tejada ® 2B Rangers: 1. Ian Kinsler ® 2B 2. Endy Chavez (L) CF 3. Michael Young ® DH 4. Adrian Beltre ® 3B 5. Nelson Cruz ® RF 6. Mitch Moreland (L) 1B 7. David Murphy (L) LF 8. Taylor Teagarden ® C 9. Andres Blanco (S) SS http://baseballpress.com/lineup.php Josh Hamilton's sensitive eyes can rest today. Endy gets the start. I'm off to Bowie to watch Matt Harvey.
  10. Hopefully The Met Fairy sees a better game today.

  12. Fman--I'm getting the game via Extra Innings.
  13. It's bad enough that the Mets are losing but SNY keeps showing GW Bush. Please stop!
  14. I agree with this plan while the Mets are playing in DH-land. http://metsfever.blogspot.com/2011/06/should-mets-bring-up-dh-go-with-one.html
  15. FLOYD: Takin' bets today, Red? RED: (pulls notepad and pencil) Bear Catholic? Pope shit in the woods? Smokes or coin, bettor's choice. FLOYD: Smokes. Put me down for two. RED: High roller. Who's your horse? To be traded (with a budget of 100): Capuano (25), Isringhausen (25), Beltran (35), Hairston (5)... and one long shot, Pagan (10).
  16. Here's the map: http://www.the506.com/temp11.html
  17. Hopefully they won't hire Davey--he's on the Nationals payroll.
  18. I wonder if he's on his way to the Marlins. Jim Bowden tweeted that this is the end of Riggleman's managerial career.
  19. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: bmfc1 wrote: Nationals Manager Riggleman just quit. Crazy, man. Hopefully they hire Jerry Manuel. Excellent.
  20. Nationals Manager Riggleman just quit.
  21. Out of NY-kers: the SNY feed is on the MLB Network.
  22. Nationals lineup: Marquis batting 8th, Ian Desmond 9th.
  23. 1:30 start time.
  24. Maybe Ziegler shouldn't have thrown it so close to the batter. Maybe Melvin shouldn't have walked Reyes intentionally to set up the finale. "Bullshit winning"--smart baseball by Turner.
