  1. Several chances tonight but no big 2 out hits.
  2. Overrated director Bill Webb keeps showing MFY fans. SNY shows Jeter commercials. This is a Mets broadcast, isn't it?
  3. WPIX feed on the MLB Network.
  4. AdamRubinESPN Adam Rubin Taylor Buchholz has been diagnosed with depression/anxiety and will be on DL for "foreseeable future."
  5. What an incredible trio of games. A must read.
  6. If you have tickets for Mets-Cubs on September 11, Bob Raissman writes today: ESPN is leaning toward airing the Mets Sept. 11 tilt with the Cubs on "Sunday Night Baseball."
  7. From BASEketball: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KEvS-t-MDg
  8. From an mlb.com article: Legendary sports broadcaster Al Michaels will join MLB Network's Bob Costas in the broadcast booth when the two call the New York Mets at NL West first-place San Francisco Giants at 10:00 p.m. ET on Friday, July 8, part of MLB Network's live game schedule in July. The game marks the first time Michaels and Costas will call an MLB game together and the first MLB game Michaels will call since 1995. Costas and Michaels will also make special appearances on SNY's broadcast and on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's broadcast in the game's middle innings, while Mets announcers Gary Cohen and Ron Darling and Giants announcers Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow will appear in MLB Network's booth during that time, as its telecast will not be available in the Giants' and Mets' home television markets.
  9. I trust that everybody enjoyed Guys! interview with a Detroit Lion while the game was on.
  10. Are we gonna hear "Pelfrey can't work with Thole"?
  11. Pelfrey with a fastball down the middle to put the Mets in a hole. This messes up the bullpen for tomorrow.
  12. "Blaming Debus"... I like that name very much. Thank you for taking away that picture.

  14. Your opinion, please. These are the last three paragraphs of Martino's game story in today's Daily News: They also clinched a series win and, at 41-39, rose to two games above .500 for the first time since April 5. This is a team that was not expected to contend, and is still not contending - but it is playing respectably, and enjoying the moment. What does this modest success mean, and how far will it take this team? It is useful to remember that, exactly one year before Wednesday night's game, the Jerry Manuel Mets were 43-34, and that record did not even represent their peak. They finished the year 79-83, lousy enough to cost the manager and general manager their jobs. Our point? These Mets have not proven anything yet. Is a game story supposed to have a "point"? It's not a column. He can have a theme or a thread but I don't care what he thinks is "useful" or what his opinion is as part of a game story.
  15. Crap. Gonna be a long last 11 outs.
  16. Tigers color guy: the Mets sure run a lot. Play by play guy: we don't see that in our league.
  17. You know when things are going well when you're positive that Bay will get a hit.
  18. Unrelated to the IGT but TFB... Ceetar: thanks for suggesting who to vote for at AL SS.
  19. Jose was on Lupica's show today. At the end, Lupica said "thank you for getting to the ballpark a little early to do this today." Jose laughed and said "I come early everyday anyway Papi.... thank you man, thank you for having me, bro.'" It's a pleasure to listen to any interview w/Jose.
  20. http://www.jeterfilter.com/ It's a Chrome extension that removes "Jeter" from any webpage. Read the "About the Developer."
  21. Good article in today's [u:15b1gw1v]WSJ[/u:15b1gw1v] on the inequities of inter-league scheduling: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304314404576414172504172798.html#articleTabs%3Darticle
  22. Screw you Verducci, you MFY loving hack. Stop fantasizing about Jeter and see that the NL MVP is Jose Reyes. Also, how can Terry not be in the top 3 for Manager of the Year unless you haven't been paying attention. Gee at #2 for ROY is OK but Espinosa is hardly a "clear cut frontrunner" at .242 when Gee is 8-1. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/tom_verducci/06/28/midseason.awards/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t11_a1
  23. I thought that Wally would leave Binghamton to become Davey's bench coach but that job belongs to Pat Corrales.
  24. Why are the Mets playing the Tigers this year (other than to make MGIM happy--which is a pretty good reason)? The Mets played the Tigers last year. The Mets are not playing any other team from the AL Central. Instead, the Mets are playing teams from the AL West except for the Mariners. I'm trying to find logic in an illogical system. Also, from Wikipedia: "The New York Mets have never hosted the Chicago White Sox. The 2 teams have only played once in Chicago in 2002." Yearly Summary 1997: NYM won 0, DET won 3. 2004: NYM won 3, DET won 0. 2007: NYM won 1, DET won 2. 2010: NYM won 2, DET won 1.
