  1. Incredible--even Angel Hernandez thought that it was a bad call.
  2. Wow. Terry doesn't panic, sticks with his plan to rest Isringhausen and Parnell, goes through the bullpen and gets 4 innings to protect the lead and get the win. Helluva job by Terry. Helluva job by Beato, Igarashi, Acosta and Byrdak. @AdamRubinESPN Byrdak has 4 career saves with 4 different teams in 3 different decades.
  3. I'm going to all three games this weekend in DC. Anybody else?
  4. In '12, Mets @ Tampa; Baltimore @ Mets.
  5. Good point Ceetar about Turner's thumb injury. I wish he'd stop questioning the bad calls--the umps aren't going to correct their calls and they don't like it when a rookie is demonstrative (Ike is guilty of this, too). I hope that being at one position will help Murphy but when he's in the field, I don't see "baseball smarts" like we often saw with Tejada (FAFIF has a good take on Murphy today).
  6. Any thoughts on the Mets starting 2B for '12? We know that it won't be Brad Emaus. Beyond that, assume that Ike is back at 1B and Jose is back at SS. Turner? From Amazin' Avenue: Through 6/1: .320/.364/.470 in 107 plate appearances (.349 BABIP) After 6/1: .246/.319/.298 in 192 plate appearances (.284 BABIP) http://www.amazinavenue.com/2011/7/26/2294015/justin-turner-mets-is-probably-not-a-starter Murphy? Boy can he "rake" but boy is he a knucklehead. As a fielder, he's a good DH. AA says that Duda should play 1B the rest of the season so Murphy can get experience at 2B. Do you agree that Murphy should move to 2B to prepare for 2012?
  7. Pelfrey should just STFU. "But in the same sense I would think if we ended up getting rid of him, the front office's view is that we don't have a chance...." The only time the Mets "don't have a chance" is when he pitches.
  8. Wherever they are in the standings, a Mets win is fantastic. (Some are better than others, but all are good.)
  9. Pagan gets a day to hydrate.
  10. A winnable game. It seems like they're leaving a lot of runners on 3d with less than 2 outs. This won't help the fight to stay out of last.
  11. MFS62 wrote: More eighth inning follies from Parnell. This is getting to be a thing with him. If Collins is trying him in the "almost closer" role, he is showing that he isn't ready yet. Before the year is up, they need to figure out if Parnell is a guy who can close or set up or if he's just a AAAA pitcher.
  12. Gary and Keith were shocked but it worked.
  13. Not enough by the Marlins.
  14. If you thought that Pagan left the game because he was traded: AdamRubinESPN Angel Pagan left the game with dehydration.
  15. Did you see that? A hard hit by Jason Bay! I'm not kidding!
  16. I think if he tried to advance to 2B after the pickoff throw, it counts as a CS. A few days ago we heard that the Mets didn't want to trade Paulino. Why? He's hitting .300 but only 1 HR.
  17. From Mark Simon of ESPN: The Emilio Bonifiacio SB is the 28th in the last 29 attempts against the #Mets ... Ouch.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: ... and some team we'll be competing against in the WC race fattens up on some AL Central squad. Such as the LaRussas who will have their usual six games against the Royals. And the Nationals will have their usual games against the Orioles.
  19. And in 2012, Red Sox @ Mets, June 15-17: http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/6786935/boston-red-sox-play-new-york-yankees-fenway-park-100th-anniversary-according-source?campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines
  20. Nice to see Duda go deep. I like him. He's slow and I'm not sure where he fits in on the field but I like his bat. He often over thinks or is too tentative but there's something there.
  21. I wasn't asking about Corrasco's contract because of the HR, but why did he get a 2 year deal?
  22. DJ Corrasco has a two year contract. Why?
  23. August 20 to 4:05 and September 11 to 8:05. Another game on a Sunday night rather than Sunday afternoon, plus it's against the Jets opener, and of course, now ESPN and Bobby V. can talk about 9-11.
  24. Good idea--it's the bottom of the 9th, the Mets are two outs from victory, so cut away to preview the post-game show.
