  1. Valdespin also had some temperamental issues last year (i.e. he's allegedly a hot head).
  2. Adam Rubin ? @AdamRubinESPN Terry Collins cryptically said there is a player who may be disabled in next hour. "In the next hour, one of these 25 Mets might be injured. Who will it be? Stay tuned... but first, let's check in with Kevin."
  3. That was excellent--thanks for posting FK.
  4. Jordan Valespin and Jeremy Hefner are both at Citi Field... If they will be activated, then when and for whom? Perhaps for Batista after the first game?

  6. DH tomorrow at 4:10, soon to be called "old-fashioned, single-admission doubleheader." Batista and Gee are the Mets starters.
  7. The Nationals are 12 and 4 and getting a little buzz in DC (at least until the NFL Draft this weekend). T The batting stats are not impressive: 17th in MLB in Runs Scored, 20th in BA, 23d in Slugging, 23d in OPS. But the pitching stats are: 1st in MLB in ERA; 1st in BA against; 2d in WHIP. The pitching stats can't stay this high so will the hitting get better to keep the Nationals in first place?
  8. How dare those American League snobs make fun of the quality of play in the National League?
  9. I hope someone makes a .gif of Terry's reaction.
  10. You know who's pissed? My wife. I told her I'd take her to see Hunger Games at 4:10. Maybe the 5:40.
  11. He should have left Pelfrey in to start the inning to see what happens. He had (HAD!) a three run cushion.
  12. As someone who really dislikes Pelfrey, I "bravo" to him.
  13. Sometimes managers feel like they have to do something to show that they're there, even when things are going well without them.
  14. What the hell happened to Ike--a delayed reaction to the tropical fever? He was great in ST and as soon as the season started, he looked like he was trying to put up enough numbers to make up for last year.
  15. Frigging fly ball would have won it in the 9th and tied it in the 10th. Awful.
  16. The 9th inning was a battle of over-managing. If the SFG hold on, Terry lost the battle by PH'ing Baxter, a rookie, for Cedeno, a veteran, when all you needed was a fly ball. If that's how little Terry thinks of Cedeno then Cedeno has no business being on the team.

  18. Thole already being mocked by Deadspin: http://deadspin.com/5901914/josh-thole-fell-for-the-old-tell-the-runner-it-was-a-foul-ball-trick?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+deadspin%2Fexcerpts+%28Deadspin+excerpts%29
  19. Thole is a moron.
  20. Do you agree with not moving Murphy to 3d while Wright recovers? He's better at 3B but Terry wants him to concentrate on 2B.
  21. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Don't look for dirt on other players, other than about A. Rodriguez. There was also the shoe-kicking veteran Texas righty (Heiling?). It was 2001. I think he said that the pitcher was released soon after. RA made his debut on April 22d. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TEX/2001-transactions.shtml It wasn't Jonathan Johnson who is RA's buddy. It wasn't Brantley who bought him clothes. So if the transaction log is accurate, it was Kevin Foster (whomever that is) who was released in August. Helling pitched the entire season for Texas.
  22. I liked it, didn't love it. The timing for the book was poor as it suffered by comparison to the excellent "Out of My League", by Dirk Hayhurst (also enjoyed by LWFS). I loved his interactions with the knuckleball gods. I didn't like him talking about God as often as he did. That's him and that's fine but it's a big part of his book and it was often too much for me. Don't look for dirt on other players, other than about A. Rodriguez. I admire him for persevering and finished the book a bigger RA Dickey fan than before.
