  1. Is Fielder being punished? I'm surprised that he had to make the long bus trip.
  2. An argument the DH-ers keep making is "everybody else does it." So what? Just because it provides greater opportunities for someone to play in the minors, college or high school doesn't mean that Major League Baseball is better with it than without it. The Player's Union keeps pushing it because it's typically a highly paid position but if they really cared about their union members, they'd campaign for abandoning it in favor of a 26 man roster so that an additional player can be in the major leagues.

  5. Ceetar--I apologize but I can't participate this year.
  6. Pelfrey continues to stink. He's given up 2 homeruns already. My hatred for him is in mid-season form.
  7. The Mets continue to be good at hitting Grand Slams against the Tigers as Duda hits a slam.
  8. Ex-Met Gone Bad: John Shea BREAKING NEWS: #Athletics OF Jason Pridie suspended 50 games, violating minor-league drug program. Agent Matt Sosnick not returning calls.
  9. I went to today's game. All of the pitchers looked good but they were primarily facing minor leaguers. Turner looked good both at bat and in the field. Den Dekker had a nice opposite field double against a lefty. Not much to report. Here's a picture of three Mets that made the trip but didn't play:
  10. The Mets tweeted this picture today. We're the classiest! https://twitter.com/#!/Mets/status/177066387251003394/photo/1
  11. For us out-of-towners, the SNY feed is on MLB Network.
  12. We couldn't even get to the first exhibition game without some crap happening to our team. Maybe it's some small version, if that's possible, since he played today.
  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: REO Speedwagon with a theme song for Mets fans in 2012: "Roll With The Changes." I know it's cheesy as all hell but that song rocks my cock off. I gotta admit it. It's one of my favorite running songs.
  14. REO Speedwagon with a theme song for Mets fans in 2012: "Roll With The Changes."
  15. Post-Game concerts at Citi Field: REO Speedwagon, June 15 Cheap Trick, July 20 MercyMe, August 10.
  16. I'm in so long as the draft isn't the 23d or 24th. You threw me with the thread title.
  17. Gwreck wrote: I'm so glad you have the money for a helicopter trip to Miami and tickets to the Heat-Knicks but not Jose Reyes. Yes, I know the cost is not the exact same. You're right Gwreck. Mets management is tone deaf. If they really wanted to go, then hire a limo and leave from the hotel.
  18. Jose leaving the last game of the season doesn't seem so bad now, does it? Jose got a lot of heat for it but if he didn't, Braun might have won the batting title.
  19. Do you still buy pre-season baseball magazines? The concept is antiquated as the magazine doesn't update to put A.J. Burnett on Pittsburgh but it's nice having a preview of the season to take on the train. If you buy one, which one?
  20. Could we please take the Josh Lewin portion of this thread and start a new one solely about Lewin? Yes we can! Thank you.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: How would that help? It would help in the tri-state area as it would be an alternative to the weak AM signal. It wouldn't help any one from out of state because, as you said, we'd lose the clear signal that FAN uses.
  22. Ceetar wrote: We hear this every time the contract is up, hopefully not, signal sucks. From what I've read, ESPN-NY is going to add an FM signal to help fix the problem with their AM signal.
  23. Ceetar wrote: Time to welcome https://twitter.com/#!/joshlewinstuff to the Mets radio booth. isn't it only 'almost official' now? Did i see 1-year deal? if that doesn't say 'trial/transition' I don't know what does. Rubin: Wouldn't read too much into Josh Lewin reportedly getting 1-year deal. Don't believe WFAN officially has Mets rights beyond 2012 as of now. He's right. The Mets might be on ESPN-NY in '13 with the MFYs moving from CBS to FAN.
  24. About "advocacy": Megdal made his case that the Wilpons knew of Madoff's illegal activities and convincingly presented it with facts from court filings and with opinions from independent sources. The reader is free to agree or not. If the Wilpon's disagree, then I'm sure they can supply any evidence that Megdal might have overlooked or not known about.
  25. Ceetar wrote: has anyone read Megdal's book btw? I did and it's excellent. He provides the plain-language view of the Sterling Equities financial situation from the perspectives of an economist, attorney and Mets fan. I went into it believing that the standard of "known or should have known" about Madoff's illegal activities would be impossible to meet. People inside the company, such as Saul Katz's son, warned Sterling about Madoff and yet they continued to give him their money. After reading the damning evidence, I now think that either they knew or they are idiots.
