  1. Did Harvey say "we've got a good defense" as Murphy made the error?
  2. Lovely column. A must read.
  3. Josh Satin is playing for Team Israel during this month's WBC qualifying round. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2012/09/israel-spain-among-final-wbc-rosters-released/
  4. Ceetar wrote: They suck because they're a combination of young/inexperienced, untalented, and slow to make adjustments to the adjustments other teams made off their first half success. Yup.

The MFP fan in the office next door is starting to glow. They trade away some key parts and start to do better. The Mets do nothing and fade away. ARGH!
  6. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Maybe they suck ... because they suck. Are you suggesting that it's just that the Mets have players with less talent and skill than other teams?
  7. Even if Lannan makes the same salary, they could possibly get value from another team for Niese because he's under contract. A clever GM could do this... can Sandy?
  8. Howie said that John Lannan, the latest SP to make the best look bad, will probably be non-tendered. He was sent down this April after starting the last two Opening Days for WSH, was pissed off about it, and is only in the rotation to replace Strasburg. Given that he's from Long Island so he might want to play close to home for a discount, even for a lousy team, do you think that the Mets might sign him to a one-year deal? That would allow them to trade Niese, cheap and signed, to get help elsewhere? Or do they think they have "enough" starting pitching?

  10. Because that's what ho's gotta do to make money. Wrong thread?

I don't mind the O's and certainly want them to beat out the MFYs so I will do my best to cheer them on. I want to remember what important September games are like.
  12. The Mets should love the April trips to Minnesota and Denver.

  15. Thank you batmagadanleadoff. Apart from the stats, I fear that an anti-NY bias and an anti-knuckleball bias will cost R.A. the Award.
  16. Right--it's about making your own decisions for the best interests of the team rather than taking whatever happens to be left over.
  17. Kay's 5 PM essay/speech/monologue was something like it's time for the MFYs to step up, they're playing a team that isn't trying, no excuses, they have to take at least 2 of 3 in this series.

  21. The Nationals TV guys were annoyed by a Mets fan that was clapping his hands near one of their mics so they asked him to stop. His clapping was better than their announcing.

  24. Adam Rubin said that the Mets will open next season at home against the Padres (last time that happened, the leadoff batter hit a homerun).
  25. F. Wilpon doesn't want to do anything that will upset his Sugar Daddy, the Crypt Keeper.
