  1. 31 games: 7 v STL; 7 v HOU; 6 v MIA; 6 v WSH; 2 v DET; 2 v MIN; 1 v ATL. So 26 of 31 against only 4 teams. ATL has moved 3 hours away so that means more with the nearby teams. No Boston this year (even though they are playing in nearby West Palm Beach) and no MFYs again (even though they are playing in nearby Jupiter).
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't know if it was commented on in this thread, but at one point Gary Apple seemed to be praising Brodie for being canny enough to not include Jeff McNeil in the Cano/Diaz deal. Yes, I'm glad McNeil wasn't included, but I wouldn't be inclined to praise a GM for not making a stupid awful deal more stupid and more awful. 100%.
  3. The Mets must be doing something right as the next 4 games are on either ESPN or MLBN: http://mets.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/national.jsp?c_id=nymhttp://mets.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/national.jsp?c_id=nym
  4. The game was 3:01 and Keith acted like it was last night's MIL-WSH game. Rosario didn't know the OF victory ritual but he tried. Well done, Mets. Time for Mickey to show his mentor that his new team is better.
  5. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27405556/worth-exploring-mlb-mercy-rulehttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27405556/worth-exploring-mlb-mercy-rule I've wondered about this for years. I think that the idea has merit but doubt that it will ever happen as teams would complain about losing commercial time. You're not doing it in the playoffs but it's not a bad idea.

  7. Swap McDowell and Orosco between the mound and the OF.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: Won't be able to pinch-hit for Nido — who is hitting nothing right now — without losing the DH. Good point. Another reason to add Rene (24 HRs) Rivera and go with one fewer RP.
  9. A big last 3 innings coming up here. Not that you'd know from the car conversation on SNY.
  10. Do you think the people in that box expected to get a ball hit to them?
  11. Awww, thanks nymr83!
  12. If Davis can pinch-hit, as we are told, then why can't he DH which is just pinch-hitting more often?
  13. Maybe they'll send down Diaz... sure.
  14. When your lineup has Lagares batting 6th, even against the Royals, you're in trouble. Ramos had 4 hits last night and there's a DH tonight but Mickey rests Ramos and Nido plays which is an automatic auto. Call up Rene Rivera for Nido who wouldn't hit .250 in AA. WSH won again so those two loses last Friday and Saturday really put them away as they haven't lost since. The Mets celebrated those wins as if they won the Series, not that this group would know what that's like.
  15. This is quite a bench that Brodie assembled. Please call up Rivera because the other teams must be laughing every time that Nido is in the lineup.
  16. I don't know who is going to replace Gagnon as Syracuse used 5 relievers tonight with Mazza getting the start: https://www.mlb.com/mets/prospects/stats/affiliateshttps://www.mlb.com/mets/prospects/stats/affiliates
  17. Every few days, BVW brings up a pitcher from Syracuse because he's thrown a few good innings in AAA and then that pitcher stinks to high heaven. It's time for another new body.
  18. So Manfred is doing a helluva job on his goal to speed up the games. He might also want to look at competitive balance as some teams clearly don't care about winning so they can get high draft picks to keep players "under control" rather than pay for free agents while other teams don't care about making the playoffs via a "coin-flip" Wild Card game.
  19. Since defeating the Nationals on Saturday, WSH has won 4 in a row and picked up 3 1/2 games on the Mets who have lost 3 in a row. So much for momentum.
  20. Mickey will give us some crap like "Steven got tired running the bases".
  21. Gary Apple and I have different definitions of "unbelievable".
  22. There was a lot more Jacob Rhame talk this season than a pitcher of his caliber deserved. I'm hoping that there's none in 2020.
  23. My first thought was that one of the Shirtless Michael Conforto covers is an early favorite for the next tournament but that's loser talk and there will be bigger victories and better covers ahead.
  24. Maja is wearing a lot of clothing. Is it winter there?
  25. I high-fived his parents after he pitched a scoreless inning during an early spring game against Houston.
