  1. Mets Police says that Gary Cohen is taking the series off. Bad timing! Gary Apple is the sub.
  2. Ugh, the Mets are also on SNB on 9/1 (with a day game in WSH the next day): http://mets.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/national.jsp?c_id=nymhttp://mets.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/national.jsp?c_id=nym
  3. Strength of schedule is not talked about in baseball but the Mets get the MFYs (per usual) 4 times and HOU 4 times while WSH gets 4 with SEA and their usual 4 with BAL. From the message board at the 506.com [bLOCKQUOTE]NL East vs AL West Atlanta = 2H/2A Boston, 2H/2A Oakland, vs Houston, vs LA Angels, at Seattle, at Texas Miami = 2H/2A Tampa Bay, 2H/2A LA Angels, vs Seattle, vs Texas, at Houston, at Oakland NY Mets = 2H/2A NY Yankees, 2H/2A Houston, vs Seattle, vs Texas, at LA Angels, at Oakland Philadelphia = 2H/2A Toronto, 2H/2A Texas, vs LA Angels, vs Oakland, at Houston, at Seattle Washington = 2H/2A Baltimore, 2H/2A Seattle, vs Houston, vs Oakland, at LA Angels, at Texas[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  4. At a minimum, make it Rajai because he's fast.
  5. =Gwreck post_id=18577 time=1565630558 user_id=56] Scheduling Oakland and San Francisco games at the same time is unlikely to work out. Same reason that NL teams who have the Yankees on their schedule do not commonly play both teams in a row
  6. In a switch, the Mets will play on July 4 (because it's a Saturday) but not on Memorial Day (May 25). They could have played SF and Oakland back-to-back but that would have made sense.
  7. "Hot Child in the City" is on today's personalized playlist that Spotify creates every Monday. Coincidence?
  8. The spectacle of Altherr getting an important AB in an important game was not good. At the moment, the bench players are: "Babe" Guillorme (L), Altherr ®, Nido ®, Lagares ®. That's not good. They can't make any more trades so how does BVW make this better? He can bring up Rajai Davis and DFA Altherr. Davis is great baserunner and that would help. Rene Rivera is hitting well but the Cult of Nido prevents anything from happening to him. Perhaps Rivera can be called up to add a hot bat and allow Mickey to pinch-run for Ramos.
  9. Good points, kc and Hahn. Thanks. I only heard Howie and Wayne and there was no mention of deGrom's culpability.
  10. If Alonso makes the play the Mets win. F the Nationals, all of their fans and anything connected to them. I can't wait until the series in Washington starting on Labor Day.
  11. One of the biggest moments of this game was when Rosario came up with 2 on (2d and 3d?) after they tied it at 3 and he grounded out.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: =bmfc1 post_id=18518 time=1565555335 user_id=73] The Altherr Era needs to come to an end by Tuesday. If nothing else, he and Lagares are redundant just as Guillorme and Hechavarria were. My bet is they're scanning the waiver wire for a Panik-like OF while also waiting for returns of Dom and/or Brandon.
  13. At least we won't have to watch Diaz beyond this season. What?
  14. The Altherr Era needs to come to an end by Tuesday.
  15. It's pathetic that strike 3 on Davis would have been called correctly in The Atlantic League but it's called incorrectly in the major leagues. This crew is awful.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Well, there were two outs already. Valid point.
  17. How does Alonso not get 2 errors on that play? It should have been an easy DP.
  18. The Mets haven't seen a lot of Sanchez in his bland Nationals uniform. He's was hurt earlier this year so the Mets have only faced him for 1 1/3 IP this year (0 ER, 1 H). Mets players haven't had much success against him. Shirtless Mike has a HR but is 1 for 8. Panik is 3 for 6 (if Mickey can cite Panik being 1 for 1 against Dolittle as justification for letting him bat on Friday, I can cite 6 ABs her). Ramos is 6 for 18. Frazier is 1 for 19. Jake has defeated WSH twice this year, 13 IP only 1 ER. Adam "The Mortgage King" Eaton is 6 for 15 against Jake with a HR; Trey Turner is 9 for 31 with a HR (and 12 K's). Rendon is 2 for 28.
  19. One of the candidates for President is a Mets fan. Yes, this guy is running for President.
  20. https://www.topps.com/media/catalog/product/cache/c687aa7517cf01e65c009f6943c2b1e9/a/r/artbb-16c2s-19tn-0660_.png>
  21. Edgy, that was very funny.
  22. It's also Pride Night which should go well with the Chik Fil A foul (fowl) poles.
  23. Corbin got hit around by AZ in his last start, 5 1/3 IP, 5 ER. He's having a good season, 3.43 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 164 K in 141 2/3 IP. This is his 5th start against the Mets this season (2-2). http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/31313/patrick-corbinhttp://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/31313/patrick-corbin Alonso and Rosario hit HR's off him in the most recent game. Shirtless Mike From Seattle, Washington has 4 HR's off him, JD and Amed have 2. Noah has given up 3 HR's to Robles and 2 to Rendon but that was all pre-Vulture.
  24. Panik's 1st hit as a Met got lost in the fun but it was a big, big hit.
  25. Thoughts, though - mostly about Mickey still being terrible. 1. The Alonso challenge, which he really had no chance of winning. He seems to use these specifically on bad challenges as "Hail Mary" attempts to get a break I think that sometimes if a player makes the "challenge" sign Mickey will challenge the call just to show that he supports his player.
