  1. =G-Fafif post_id=17459 time=1564856026 user_id=55] Strasburg edged Jake. (Boo.)
  2. Why would you walk Cano to pitch to Ramos who had just hit a HR (not that I'm complaining)?
  3. Who do you want for the 9th? Mickey, of course, goes by the book and will bring in Diaz rather than keep in Lugo after his 10-pitch dominant 8th.
  4. Ramos had to go to the right side and certainly did.
  5. Bases loaded, one-out, only one run. Yeah, that won't be remembered in a few hours.
  6. The last 2 spots in the 'pen, currently Bashlor and Mazza, have been interchangeable and could have used an upgrade.
  7. A reminder that Brodie did nothing to improve the bullpen at the trade deadline when relievers were going everywhere else.
  8. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Mickey not having a good day Or season. Or tenure as Mets manager.
  9. "Hey Pete, put chalk all the way down the line and then you can go to lunch." "Close enough, I'm hungry."
  10. Mickey is leaving in Ramos on the bases even though he runs as if he has a piano on his back while Lagares and Altherr are on the bench.
  11. Brodie had two players in mind from STL for Wheeler and the Cardinals wouldn't do it. From The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]But the New York Mets wanted a major league return and the Cardinals didn't think dealing [Harrison] Bader or [Tyler] O'Neill, both under team control for at least another five seasons, was worth about a dozen Wheeler starts plus, if they make it, what he'd give them in the playoffs. Wheeler, like Bumgarner, is a free agent in November if their current teams don't extend their contracts before then. Bader, meanwhile, struggled so badly when he was handed the Cardinals' starting center field job, he was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. Amazingly, Bader still rates above replacement level, per FanGraphs, despite a .195 batting average and .339 slugging percentage, primarily because he has played elite defense and is a premium baserunner. O'Neill, too, has his warts, primarily a 37.1-percent strikeout rate in 275 big league plate appearances. He also has 14 home runs and 10 doubles in those plate appearances, good for a .469 slugging percentage. He plays good defense and is among the Cardinals' fastest two or three players despite being built like his father, a Mr. Olympia contestant.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  12. Rosenthal today in The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]There are industry rumblings that club officials view Syndergaard's makeup as an issue – they also talked about trading him last winter – and fear that Díaz cannot handle New York. If the two are not traded on Wednesday, the Mets can revisit talks during the offseason, when Syndergaard still will be under control for two more seasons and Díaz for three.[/bLOCKQUOTE] So sorry that Noah is not a robot but someone with some brains and opinions (e.g. the post-Spring Training trip to Syracuse). We'll see if Jeffy treats him the way he treats pregnant employees.

  14. From what I've read, my concern over Stroman's pitching to contact with a lousy defense around him is offset by the fact that he has one of the lowest HR-allowed rates in baseball. He is an excellent defender (giving the Mets two of the top fielding SPs in MLB--deGrom being the other). BVW is seen as a "disruptor" who now has more of an advantage in a limited SP market for possible trades. He can keep all of them, trade one of them, trade some of them, take the return from a trade and trade that for something else. Diaz is also in demand. Nothing may happen but count on Martino, Rosenthal and the rest to fill up the time between now and Wednesday at 4 PM with every possible scenario.
  15. I like him but he's a contact pitcher who will now have a bad defense behind him.
  16. The pace of this game will more than make up for last night's speedy game.
  17. Mickey has been on the job for almost two years and still doesn't understand when and why to double-switch. Also, there are 10 coaches there to help him including a "quality control" coach.
  18. Didn't Payton miss 2B while returning to 1B on a flyball?
  19. Ervin Santana has pitched well in his last few starts, including tonight: 1 ER in 6 innings. I suspect that he'll be a Met after the trade deadline.
  20. Another snoozer but in a good way. Let's hope that Diaz is OK and that Alonso's back doesn't have any repercussions from the beanball.
  21. Lefty Specialist wrote: I'd love to see a kidcaster come on and rip the Wilpons. "I'm 10 and the Mets haven't won the World Series in my lifetime. My Dad gives me $2 for an allowance. Jeff Wilpon gets to run a baseball team and I know more about baseball than he does and I'm only 10. Jeff Wilpon should be put in a time-out. Hey Keith, stop hitting on my Mom."
  22. Caden Philip is better at announcing than anyone the MFYs have. I think that he's the 1st kidcaster to initiate a discussion with Keith and Ron.
