  1. Wifey enjoyed the flick. She rates the Anderson movies much the same as I do and proclaimed that this one was the best since (but not as good as) Tannenbaums.
  2. I chose "dead". If they would have pulled off the win last night, I might feel differently...but that spark was snuffed. Having to leap the rest of the division from last place is a different situation than 2007 and I don't think they have the tools. Getting Howard and Halladay back may provide a start...but they really only have 3 weeks to prove that they can contend before Amaro has to decide if he is selling. Unless they are excellent between now and the deadline, I would think they will try to sell what they can in order to re-stock their bare farm system.
  3. Centerfield wrote: We are going to sweep these worthless armadillo fuckers. This is going to be my mantra of the weekend.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: Throw in some outside hope for Rookie of the Year and Comebacker of the Year. Terry Collins should get some love for manager of the year, too.
  5. Wright 5 Murphy 2 Hairston 1 Thole 1 Parnell 1
  6. Our lefties don't stand much of a chance with the way the strike-zone is configured tonight. Advantage: Hamels.
  7. My wife is seeing this right NOW while I'm watching the Mets game. She went with a friend to one of those fancy theaters we have that serve wine. I'll update the thread on what she has to say. This all but guarantees that I will not see this film until some time next year.
  8. No, but I think he was breifly a teammate of John Maine who gave up a homer to Ryan Howard a couple of days ago.
  9. Yeah, it seems to me like LaRussa is going to dick Dickey out of the start by claiming that Posey can't catch him or that they wanted to use him in a certain situation. Retired managers managing and fans voting for players in a "game that counts" is really absurd, and the ASG has been a joke for years. If neither Dickey nor Wright are starting, then I'm going to start boycotting this thing until they fix some of it's glaring problems.
  10. Wes Anderson is one of those directors who makes movies that all seem the same to me. I've seen all of his features and would rate them as getting worse with each new film. From best to worst: Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited. Fantastic Mr. Fox did buck this trend, but mostly because I found the animation fascinating and I didn't have to look at Owen Wilson's nose. The wife is a big fan (of both Anderson and Bill Murray), so we will end up seeing this one eventually.
  11. That was a pretty hot double-play!
  12. KABOOM!!! Scott Hairston crushes one.
  13. Torres can play a little centerfield.

  15. Niese 5 Murphy 3 Wright 1 Tejada 1
  16. No worries in that one. Fun! Let's do it again tomorrow...only with dorkier hats on.
  17. One of the replays showed that the throw pulled Utley pretty far off the bag. That's prolly what the ump saw. When I saw it real time, I thought "That is a textbook example of the 'area' play." But I thought Utley would get the call.
