1. =G-Fafif post_id=27120 time=1574692588 user_id=55] “Every so often,” a la the Brewers wearing their 1982 duds on Friday nights at home, would be fine. Alterna-creep always lurks as a danger, though. I don't believe the blacks tops and hybrid hats of 1998 were envisioned as pervasive, yet soon they were. Props to Stroman and Alonso for caring one way or the other. It's as if being Mets matters to them.
2. I really like HOT IN THE CITI. Great photo and the white headline over the white jersey looks great to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
3. The Athletic just dropped a https://theathletic.com/1363451/2019/11/12/the-astros-stole-signs-electronically-in-2017-part-of-a-much-broader-issue-for-major-league-baseball/really good piece on the Astros relaying opposing catcher signs to their hitters by use of sound - banging a trashcan when it was an offspeed pitch. If you don't have the Athletic, it's great, you should get it. Dig this passage: Early in the 2017 season, at least two uniformed Astros got together to start the process. One was a hitter who was struggling at the plate and had benefited from sign stealing with a previous team, according to club sources; another was a coach who wanted to help. They were said to strongly believe that some opposing teams were already up to no good. Who on the https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2017-batting.shtml2017 Astros fits this bill to you? Josh Reddick's splits were really good early in the season, so likely not him. My first thought was it was Brian McCann. It was his first season in Houston after 3 in the Bronx, he had a rough May (.204/.339/.408) but his April and June were very good and his first half was better than his second half. Then there's Carlos Beltran. 40 years old. Himself coming off 3 years with Yankees (and a third of a season with the Rangers), he hit .241/.283/.627 in April, rebounded to a decent .253/.313./.483 in May and .200/.260/.400 in June. Could Carlos be the mole? Yes, the mole.
4. Yepp, thanks for the reminder.
5. Pete of the Moment has some real potential.
6. I'll build a New Mexico squad which will feature megastar Alex Bregman, slugging catcher Mitch Garver and fireballing closer, Ken Giles. After that it's gonna drop off so much, I've got a decent shot of making the squad.
7. Congrats, Smiggy. Pretty much a boat race and no one really came too close. I look forward to inflating your player salaries in the offseason!
8. Nah, Minor said in the article that he yelled at him to drop it.

I guess his fielding percentage isn't as important as Minor's strikeout count. Guzman was charged with an error. BTW - I don't know if it's fact, but I read that there was not a $$ bonus in play for Minor for hitting 200 Ks. Just the milestone. 1) Nope, and I think the faux outrage is stupid. 2) Because (a) why the hell not, it's just a game; and ( the Sox' actions the previous inning. If it didn't work? Reason to be angry, maybe. But this late in the season, in an "otherwise worthless" game? Sure, go for it. Minor still had to execute. I don't have outrage faux or otherwise. And I don't think the Sox swinging first pitch in any way indicates they weren't trying to win. But I guess I know how I feel about the whole thing b/c I wish the Sox would've scored 3 runs after the dropped ball and won it because yelling at your teammate to drop a pop fly so you can chase a personal milestone is lame.
10. You guys see this? https://www.mlb.com/news/mike-minor-rangers-200-strikeoutshttps://www.mlb.com/news/mike-minor-rangers-200-strikeouts Mike Minor is in the 9th inning, at 120+ pitches, and sitting on 199Ks. The Rangers are leading the Red Sox 7-5. With one out, Minor induces a pop-up in foul territory near first base. As the first baseman Guzman jogs in to catch it, Minor yells at him to drop it, and Guzman does. Minor Ks the next dude to get to 200, then gets removed at 126 pitches so a reliever can get the last out. Yay 200 Ks. Aftermath: Red Sox think it's bush league. Rangers Manager and ex-Met Chris Woodward said he didn't love the dropped pop-up, but 200 Ks is special, and if you're going to accuse the Rangers of not trying to win the game, then you can say the same about the Red Sox because they swung at the first pitch 3 batters in a row down by 2. Whoa, egregious. 1) Do you care? 2) Why or why not? I don't give a shit about 200Ks. I feel like if it was a Met pitcher chasing it, I'd be pissed if Alonso dropped the ball and gave the batter another chance. Whatchoo guys think?
11. These guys look like shit! Radio night!
12. "Tom Terrific" trademark request https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2850807-tom-bradys-application-for-tom-terrific-trademark-denied-by-usptoshot down. Tricky Tom says he was just trying to keep it out of use. I don't totally buy it, guys.

16. Man, that 7-8-9. Welcome back, Ruby. This is #BIGGAME. Can't have the momentum of a 15-1 run zapped by a 3-game losing streak and a drop in the WC standings with McNeil out for a spell. LFGM
17. Holy shit! He shoulda just superimposed an image on your screen "I KNOW WHAT YOU SAID YGEEBEE!"
18. More. https://www.linkedin.com/in/ambler-moss-77843a6/https://www.linkedin.com/in/ambler-moss-77843a6/ He looks different without the cowboy hat. I spoke with him on the phone once. Mets were playing the Dodgers, I'm guessing, and he was somewhere where he couldn't watch the game and this was pre-MLB on your phone days, so he asked for someone to call him with an update. So I called him and told him we were losing or whatever.
19. =kcmets post_id=18789 time=1565804537 user_id=53] Interesting that The Sheriff ended up in computing security. Back in the day before broadband and firewalls he used to superimpose a grainy message on my screen some- times if I was 'getting out of line' that said something like you're going to get banned if you keep things up. Weird fuck, I have not one nice memory of him whatsoever.
20. I wouldn't have recognized him if we were on the same elevator. Need a Weismann update NOW!!!!

His launch angle increased by 3 full percent from last year to this, and his K% subsequently jumped from 7.7 to 9.8%. Maybe he just needs to calm his shit down and hang out with McNeil in the batting cage. maybe 'launch angle' isnt such a good idea for guys who can't hit the ball over the outfielders' heads regularly? "improved launch angle" may help powerful guys homer but may cause a guy who was hitting line drives i front of people to now hit them at people? i wonder where his flyball/line drive/groundball rates have gone if he tinkered with the swing? I have no idea if that has anything to do with anything, his launch angle was double-digits in the years prior. Just looking for reasons he might've fallen off the cliff.
23. Apparently Adeiny was due a service time bonus if he stayed 1 day longer. Geez. A million smackers! Imagine getting DFA'd the day before that triggers. Cancel the down-payment on the pool, Adeiny.
24. Hechavarria DFA'd to make room for Panik. Hoping he finds his way back to AAA.
