  1. I went niner. Best movie film I looked at in a long time.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: ="seawolf17"]I'd even take a 3-2 loss if we get six quality innings from Pedro. He may not be PEDRO any longer, but they need him to be something if they're going to come back and win this thing -- and splitting four games in Philly, whereas it's not ideal, is not the end of the world either, especially considering the Fish are on a tough West Coast swing right now and our guys are heading home to face two teams they should be able to beat. Win tonight as ugly as it needs to be. Pedro can work on his cometics at AAA for all I care. Good call, Dickshot.
  3. Great IGT. I checked here before a box score. I've never done that before. Glad for Rockin' Doc this one didn't go extras. Cheers, boys. And girls.
  4. Had a friend asking about smuggling in some tofu dogs and I wasn't sure. I've got just the soft-sided cooler for the job. Thanks, G.
  5. Nothing to do with this really, but can you bring your own grub into Shea? A little cooler or something even?
  6. I walked in and wondered what this game was and why they were showing it. They were just throwing strawberries at Strawberry and McCarver rightly chastised the asstards throwing them, but then he kinda funnily said, "Who knows what those strawberries are laden with?", like Darryl's gonna pick them up off the ground and snack on 'em or something. I love and miss the "NO PEPPER GAMES" sign behind home plate.
  7. I thought it was pretty good, Casey Affleck was awesome, and some of the camera shots that were blurry on the perimeter, but in focus in the center (landscape scenes and through old west, warped windows) were very cool looking.
  8. Vic Sage on text messaging: ]i'd pay extra if i could get a phone that responded to all texters with a message along the following lines: "thank you for your half-assed attempt to communicate with me. since you have a phone in your hands, feel free to use it next time. It'll save wear n tear on your thumbs, and prevent the further corruption of the English language arising from the repeated replacement of words with cute little symbols and abbreviations. Have a nice day :)"
  9. I'll queue it up at the library. Thx.
  10. So Gordie was real good in '64 for the Cards, not bad with us in '65 (great H/IP and K/BB numbers), and then lost it all in '66, gone from the game at age 27 after pitching 3 years of decent baseball. What happened? No UMDB memories detailing any gruesome injuries or anything.
  11. SteveJRogers wrote: KTE weather Beautiful San Diego-esque day! Have not been tossed from any where yet! Sounds real nice, Rogers. And that means you haven't been tossed from a chick's bed either, so by my count, you're batting 1.000. Have fun and bring us a win.
  12. ="soupcan"]San Diego is a military town so while the camos are U-G-L-Y (and they ain't got no alibi...) it is understandably accepted. As to the different fonts - I know that there is rule in graphic design that when mixing and matching fonts you should always put a serif with a sans serif. It seems that all three of those fonts have serifs. Maybe. I guess they go together a little better than I thought. The bend in the "San Diego" threw me off, but otherwise the "S" and "D" on the shirt are somewhat close to the cap. Something about the fonts doesn't look right, though and I don't get a real good sense of their identity. They've also got an ocean feel that doesn't jibe with the Padre name. I just don't get 'em is all. The road hat looks pretty good with the road uni, though.
  13. I like the color of the Pads road uni's, too. It's out there a little, but it's understated. Only weird thing is between the "SD" on the hat, "Padres" on the home whites, and "San Diego" on the road uni's, they've got 3 font styles that don't really have anything to do with one another. I think.
  14. Not for nothing, but Pelfrey may still be tipping pitches. After Gonzalez smoked that liner that Endy snared, the SNY cameras caught him (Adrian) a minute later in the dugout talking with someone, and he showed the dude he was talking to two different arm angles and on one of them you could clearly see him mouth "fastball". He saw something anyway.
  15. Shooter's nice, no doubt, but I'm just fine with Ike and Reese. Those are heavy-hitting names, both attached to complimentary last names. Brad could be worse. At least we didn't land a Lance.
  16. Mets draft right-handed starter Brad Holt from UNC-Wilmington. He's 6'4", 195, and looks like a 35-year old high school Geometry teacher.
  17. Ravech, Keith Law, Phillips, etc., were saying that moving him to catcher was a possibility, too, though he's resisted it in the past. All the guys gushed about him, liberally throwing around stuff like "gamer" and "ballplayer". BA Blog sez: "Well, the rumors about the Mets wanting college bats were true. No one thought Reese Havens would be the one, though. Havens resuscitated his career in the Cape Cod League last summer, changing his approach and moving his hands in his swing, and his power took off this spring. He takes a healthy hack but after struggling for two seasons, he took off this year and profiles as an offensive infielder. More than likely, he fits better at second base or third." Reese Havens, gamer:
  18. Somewhere Mike Carp is fuming.
  19. Mets grab ASU lefty first baseman Ike Davis. Cool. Edit: 2008: .394/.468/.778 (1.246 OPS) in 198 AB. 26 2B, 16 HR, 73 RBI. I like Ike.
  20. I just flipped it on and it looks like 5 min between picks. Blue Jays took the first baseman from Berkley named Cooper. Mets up now.
  21. I think I'll miss you both. Was gonna go, but am too tired and broke from my trip last week. The park's awesome if you haven't been. You guys'll have a great time.
  22. Rockin' Doc wrote: Castillo steals second. Pretty amazing for someone who generally looks like he can barely walk with his gimpy knees. Wright fails to drive him home. I think of poor Barbaro everytime I see Castillo run.
  23. Fine by me. Lets win games. NOW!!!
  24. Getting primed for another go at the big club, sez Daily News. C-Los is kicking ass like he does. 20 IP, 14 H, 4 ER, 8 BB, 17 K, 1.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 5 games saved. Whose spot, you ask? Aaron Heilman, they say. We'll see.
