  1. Now to switch to Reds-Braves. Go, Reds!
  2. Edgy MD wrote: Is there a reason to presume he'll be more needed in the second game? This is the second game. It's tough to keep track.
  3. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Alonso is a good HR hitter but also, a .260-kinda hitter. I don't see him getting Piazza-level hot, where he's you know hitting .344 and also ripping homers in bunches You know who can do that? Dom Smith, that's who. Or the .344 part with a few HRs and lots of doubles, anyhow.
  4. Did we cross-IGT? Maybe it's a good omen.
  5. Time to turn this around. Tylor Megill goes up against Ranger Suarez and his loyal wolf Fang.
  6. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I'd bet a round of expensive beers at Citi Field they extend or re-sign him. We're on. Payable next time we're both in town.
  7. I'm not seeing him as anything more than a fill-in for Lindor in case the oblique keeps him out for 6-8 weeks, which isn't unheard of, and then a defensive upgrade at 2B once Lindor returns. Longer term, an infield of Pete or Dom-Baez-Lindor-McNeil doesn't excite me any more than Pete/Dom - McNeil - Lindor - JD. I don't like trading high ceiling prospects, but for all the talk of the team needing a "real" CF, Nimmo's been plenty real lately. Not sure there was going to be a spot opening for PCA unless Conforto were to walk, and I'd rather see the Mets buy low on Conforto during the off-season. So I don't hate the trade, but it's a rental.
  8. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=72986 time=1627683109 user_id=68] The Reds whom you're gonna strike from your little black book.
  9. The red men who are gonna dive from the fourteenth floor: J India ® 2B J Winker (L) LF K Farmer ® SS J Votto (L) 1B T Naquin (L) RF T Barnhart (L) C E Suárez ® 3B S Akiyama (L) CF S Gray ® P The guys who are going to strike all the big red names from the little black book: B Nimmo (L) CF J McNeil (L) 2B P Alonso ® 1B D Smith (L) LF M Conforto (L) RF J Villar (S) 3B T Nido ® C L Guillorme (L) SS C Carrasco ® P
  10. And, uh, Guillorme bats lefty. Duh.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Ninth-inning it, Mets! Do you look to the righthanded Nido to bat in the pitcher's spot or the hit-machine McNeil? Wasn't the right handed hit-machine Guillorme available? I was puzzled as to why he didn't bat. Though he may have PHed and I missed it. As noted, this was more a shoot-the-shit day at the ballpark than a watch-the-game day.
  12. Frantically googling #71 Mets. This freaking season...
  13. So what's going on in the game? Seo, Kase, CookieMom, and I are at the game, but we've been gabbing and not watching.
  14. I'm on vacation, I'm in Astoria, and I've got a free afternoon tomorrow, so I'm going to join the campers. I haven't bought a ticket yet, but I'll probably be in what I still want to call the Pepsi Porch. And, hey, scrolling back I see that's the day Seo and lady will be there. JG, sending you a text if I still have your number in my phone.
  15. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=72378 time=1627069805 user_id=119] I've heard people in Cleveland are tired of the rock and roll motif.
  16. Progressive Field is located at the foot of the bridge with the Guardians. So there's definitely a connection.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Also, I had no idea that Tom Hanks had any connection to Cleveland. Before he hit it big, I believe he was a regular in productions at the Cleveland Playhouse. He's not from here, though
  18. =Ceetar post_id=72289 time=1627048605 user_id=102] swing and a miss, what a surprise.
  19. Fifteen different pouty expressions after giving up five runs in the third.
  20. That Guillorme guy sure can slug. Needs to work on his glovework, though.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Seeing who is playing shortstop, I'm reminded of the Reds' annual Farmers' Day attraction. I think I recall Pat Zachry winning a cow-milking contest while the poor heifer looked up from the Three Rivers turf with a face that said, "You call this shit grass?" It was also saying "I'm here at Three Rivers in Pittsburgh. How the hell is Zachry milking me from Cincinnati?"
  22. That's all we needed. Nice job, Pete.
