Not a fan of Alonso laughing and chuckling it up with Freeman down by four. I've been thinking about this when I've watched Mets-Braves games this season. When Albies got his RBI single back in the first, he and Pete were yucking it up at 1B. A couple of weeks ago when Nido got hit, Freeman went down the line to check on him, and when Nido took his base, it looked to me like Freeman said something like "tough break, I've been there". The rivalry seems friendlier than it was in the days of Larry Jones. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like the Mets were going to start scoring runs if Szapucki threw a fast one at Freeman's head. On the other hand, the Mets and Phillies always seem to be on the verge of beating the crap out of each other as soon as they take the field.

I wasn't against this. I Cough was looking like he was getting it together. And the Mets have no more off days until the All-Star Break. We need innings out of the starters more now than back in April when we were playing three days a week. Oh, never mind. Fuk Rojas.

=Fman99 post_id=69422 time=1624926258 user_id=86] Jared Eickhoff makes me pine for the days of any other fucking guy pitching that isn't Jared Eickhoff.
Funny, I was just thinking the opposite. "Never make the second out at home" is close to a corollary to "Never make the first out at third base". All #LOLMets snide comments aside, I'd guess that with the middle of the order up, that runner scores 75% of the time. This just happened to be part of the other 25%.
Yeah, I wasn't opining on whether it made sense - just commenting on the rationale of the Mets' brass as filtered through the media. That being said, given how much Wheeler was asking for given what he had accomplished, I wouldn't have signed him.
We got Stroman as a replacement for Wheeler, and they have performed close to identically this year. Stro: 15 starts, 6-5, 2.32, 166 ERA+, 85 1/3 IP Wheeler: 15 starts, 5-4, 2.36, 167 ERA+, 99 1/3 IP
