  1. Really? I thought it was practically a no-brainer. LH hitter, best hitter on the team,, set up the force ... Harper hasn't been that good this year. And if he drives in the Manfred Man, that's an easy run to make up. If the runner on first winds up scoring, that's much harder to make up. And, never mind. METS WIN!!
  2. No match for a Lugo curve.
  3. Don't like the intentional walk strategy here.
  4. Good Francisco is better than Bad Francisco! I think I'm 10 seconds behind the local broadcast. I saw Lunch's post before I saw the hit.
  5. Has McNeil ever made an out and not slammed his helmet as soon as he got to the dugout?
  6. It has been fun this season finally watching the Mets play heads-up defense while the other guys play heads-up-ass defense.
  7. And the cards have been flipped. It's a four way tie, but I have to give batmags props for even having heard of Norm Larker. Norm Cash : 1961, 1966, 1971, 1972 All-Star teams (Dino Jesus) Norm Charlton : 1992 (Gwreck) Norm Siebern : 1962, 1963, 1964 (Fafif) Norm Larker : 1960 (batmags)
  8. The missing Norm was a Dodger.
  9. And the 'pool went down just as I was completing my post. Point for Gwreck, who may or may not have noted the embedded "nasty" hint. And point for Fafif for getting the one ex-MFY who went beyond the Norm. I'd never heard of the fourth one before looking up the Norms for this kwiz. It wasn't Norm Sherry. Norm Cash : 1961, 1966, 1971, 1972 All-Star teams (Dino Jesus) Norm Charlton : 1992 (Gwreck) Norm Siebern : 1962, 1963, 1964 (Fafif) Norm ________ : 1960 Norms who never surpassed the Norm: Norm Sherry (Ashie)
  10. Of course! Point for Dinosaur Jesus. The other ones are a little more nasty. Norm Cash : 1961, 1966, 1971, 1972 All-Star teams Norm ________ : 1992 Norm ________ : 1962, 1963, 1964 Norm ________ : 1960
  11. Quick and (at least partially) easy - name the four Norms who have been named to at least one All-Star team. Usual rules apply - one guess per post, no consecutive guessing. Norm ________ : 1961, 1966, 1971, 1972 All-Star teams Norm ________ : 1992 Norm ________ : 1962, 1963, 1964 Norm ________ : 1960
  12. No risk in challenging the last play of the game.
  13. The Mets win the damn thing!
  14. Just flipped on the game. First word I heard was "churve".
  15. Xavier Nady. IIRC, he pronounced it X-avier and not more like "Zavier". Also, EFFing David Peterson.
  16. These guys aren't as good as the regulars, but they sure are fun to watch.
  17. Fun fact I came across as I went down the Stottlemyre family rabbit hole - Mel Sr. lost 20 games in 1966, but was an All-Star.
  18. Whatever they're feeding Nido, can they share it with the rest of the hitters?
  19. Edgy MD wrote: I think Stroman wears different color shower caps under his hat — white for home and sort of a silver lightly tinted with purple on the road. It's a shower cap? I thought he'd just visited Lindor's hair stylist.
  20. So is the lineup always going to be pitcher eighth, Johnchewy ninth as long as we're short outfielders?
  21. That was one ugly AB.
