  1. Isn't his show over by now?
  2. Francesa must give some great head to know that his source will keep things quiet until he's ready to break it.
  3. Yup. Delgado yes. Molina no.
  4. Jason Bay, former Phantom-Met. Like FK, I am fascinated that how this news unfolded. How did Francesa scoop everyone else? And how could he be so confident that he sat on the news for 24 hours. This is just mind-boggling. I would love to hear an explanation on this. Kudos to Mike for actually having news after that kind of hype. If this were "the Mets are adding a wing to CitiField", it would have been lamer than lame. I'm glad they brought in Bay. He looks like a good hitter. Although at that price, and for 5 years (after the vest) I would have preferred Holliday, but it is what it is. Now trade Franceour, get a first-baseman, sign a SP and let's go to war.
  5. Anyone listening? We should know by now.
  6. This is in the wrong thread. This thread is for "Douchebag Journalists". The Francesa posts should be moved to the "Douchebag" thread.
  7. Great play! But I hate that it triggered the "two-outs on one play" incentive in the Molina contract putting us on the hook for the remaining 4 years, 48 million.
  8. If our options are Murphy or Delgado, put me down for Delgado.
  9. Off the top of my head, though I'm sure I'm missing tons: Lord of the Rings Thank you for Smoking Little Miss Sunshine Hero Harold and Kumar go to White Castle Master and Commander The Constant Gardner Batman Begins Training Day Shaun of the Dead Cinderella Man A Knights Tale Remember the Titans Kill Bill 1
  10. That is one suckass lineup. Take a look at the bottom of it with last year's OPS: 6) Murphy-1b - .742 7) Francoeur-RF .732 8) Molina-C .727 9) pitcher Even with Bay, we are looking at a lineup that lacks any depth whatsoever. It's inexcusable to get that sort of production from a corner outfield position and first base. Even if it's just bringing back Delgado, they have to do something to get offense in there. This lineup would suck even if these guys were playing for the minimum, but if you think of the money tied up in Francouer and Molina, it's enough to make you spit. I concede there's nothing much you can do at catcher. But you can go cheap and not spend $6 million for suck.
  11. Magadan and Leiter have it right. Francouer may be a nice guy, but he is absolutely part of the problems facing this team. He may have had a strong second half (relatively for him) but he still ended the year with a .732 OPS. The same OPS as Luis Castillo. Getting this type of production from a corner outfield spot is terrible. Paying more than league minimum for it even terribler. I really wish the Mets would sell high on him and get something of value. There have to be other GM's that are into "toolsy" guys like Jeff.
  12. Wow. That was completely undouchebaggery. Bravo Howard Megdal. I may not agree whole-heartedly with everything, he makes good points and good sense.
  13. I don't understand why they haven't at least make an offer to Holliday. The Cardinals have either offered 5 years or 8 years, but since Holliday hasn't signed, you'd have to think it was a 5 year deal. They should put that offer out there right now. As for Molina, I think the offer should be for one year less, for less than half the annual salary.
  14. There are so many contradictions in that article it's not even worth doing a point-by-point dismantling. Everyone put down their pens. We now have the dumbest article ever written. Thanks for playing.
  15. Bay's taking too long. Make an offer to Holliday.
  16. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Mets interested in right-hander Wang NEW YORK -- For years, the Yankees have brought aboard high profile players who have been discarded by the Mets or who have merely left the Mets on their own. See Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Todd Zeile, Robin Ventura, Armando Benitez, Jose Vizcaino, Lee Mazzili, Kevin Elster, Lance Johnson, David Cone, Daryl Boston and John Olerud, to name a dozen. The moves have gone the other way as well, but the train does seem to run from Queens to the Bronx more often than visa versa. Now, a chance exists that the Mets will bring in a pitcher who has made his mark -- and what a mark it was -- with the Yankees. The Mets have interest in Chien-Ming Wang who, until last season, was an integral component of the Yankees' rotation. Wang was among the 39 players who were not tendered contracts by their incumbent clubs who became free agents at midnight Saturday. And he is one of several the Mets intend to contact. read the rest ... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091214&content_id=7810630&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb This just in: Kevin Elster = high profile player
  17. 68. I suck. I missed Rusty.
  18. I wonder if part of this is motivated by the possibility that Ellsbury may be moved in a trade for Adrian Gonzalez.
  19. There you have it. There's our nightmare World Series.
  20. Me too. I'm trying hard to think of a team that I despise so much I would actually root for the Yankees to win. So far I have Al Qaeda.
  21. My apologies if a thread has already been started. In addition to the rumors that someone has gone 5 years for Bay, there is an article at ESPN that says the Cards may have guaranteed an 8th year to Holliday (16 million per). If that's true, that probably takes Holliday out of the Mets' plans. I wonder if this is going to become Bay or nothing for the Mets.
  22. Sucked.
  23. Whoa, wait a minute, I never meant to imply I'm quitting. I like it here way to much for that. No quitting. I"m running into a meeting now, but I apologize for being a dick.
