  1. Harrelson's too slight for fighting.
  2. You've just hit a walk-off home run. An absolute bomb that erased all doubt the minute it left the bat. Rounding third, you see a mob of teammates ready to greet you at the plate. Who do you want there? Metfairy mentioned Pedro, but I'll start with a current Met. A lot has happened over the years, but Jose Reyes is a guy I want in that pile.
  3. He never specified who it was from. It could be Vagina Cotton for all you know.
  4. Well since I started this tread, Francoeur has raised his OPS by more than 100 points and Murphy went down with a season-ending injury playing second base. I should be fired.
  5. [old man] What is H2R? [/old man]
  6. The best part, you could give Ollie a chance at retribution and know you have no chance of getting wet.
  7. When tears are of the highest quality, they heal themselves?
  8. There are plenty of logistical problems to replay as well. For instance, what if a ball to the outfield is ruled a catch, but in fact, it's a single. Where do you send the runners? Does the baserunner on second get awarded the plate? What if it's ruled a hit, but in fact, the outfielder caught it? That seems easier, everyone goes back to their base, but what if the runner would have been clearly doubled off?
  9. Well, I guess we were hoping Murphy would end up like Wigginton.
  10. Can we take a mulligan on a strategy move? I would have had Pratt going on contact in the top of the ninth in Game 1. I love Bobby, but I think he missed that one. If he gets thrown out, we still have 1st and 3rd with two outs, as opposed to 2nd and 3rd playing it safe. Gotta take the risk there to get one. And he would have scored.
  11. The Bordick/Mora trade is probably the only one that might have had a direct effect on a title. Certainly would have reached that 13 hopper hit by Sojo.
  12. I don't think we should start turning this into a witch hunt and make unfounded accusations of juicing, but I don't think we should simply label someone as "clean" because he smiles a lot and broke down. I imagine if Pettite didn't shop up on the Mitchell Report, he would be one of those guys you could bet your life was as clean as a whistle.

  14. Middlebrook for Bay would have been nice to get back, but if I had one, it would be the Kazmir trade. Honorable mention goes to the Castillo contract.
  15. 24 year old Mets prospect Dillon Gee (6-1) will be pitching for your Buffalo Bisons today at 1 p.m. on SNY (replay at 7 p.m.) He will be taking on Syracuse and some guy named Strasburg.
  16. It really was, and that's when I became a Mets fan, but I have no recollection of any managerial change, and don't have any specific memories of Frank as the manager.
  17. Technically it was George Bamberger, but I was too young to notice anything about the manager except he had the same name as the store where my mom would shop. By the time I really got into the team, it was Davey. I have no recollection whatsoever of Frank Howard ever managing the Mets.
  18. This has the feel of a long night followed by a frustrating end. Let's hope I'm wrong. I had that feeling in St. Louis too so who knows.
  19. More and more it's clear that it makes no sense for Gary Matthews Jr. to be here. Call up Hessman now. If Pagan gets hurt, insert Frenchy for the remainder of the game then call up Feliciano. It makes no sense to prepare for a situation that might happen while hurting yourself nightly in pinch-hitting situations that are all but guaranteed.
  20. Anyone know how he did last night? Did he kill anyone?
  21. Chad Ochoseis wrote: I strongly suspect that Klapisch, just in case, had an article in his top drawer that began as follows: The Mets threw $20 million down the toilet today. Jeff Wilpon, rather than give Ollie Perez a chance to work out his own problems, succumbed to pressure and exercised the nuclear option, cutting the pitcher who just two years ago went 3-0 with an 0.89 ERA against the Mets' two most feared rivals, the Yankees and Phillies. Perez has great stuff and still has time to become a top-flight major league pitcher. And, if he does, every win chalked up to him for some other team will be a reminder of how foolish and gutless the Mets were in cutting him rather than standing up to his critics. Etc., etc., etc. The Mets, having been foolish enough to sign him to that ridiculous 3 year, $36 million contract, should have been honorable enough to stand behind him and help him through his struggle instead of cutting bait at the first sign of trouble. Pitchers bounce back all the time, it just takes time and patience. Look at how the Yankees were with Philip Hughes. If Hughes had been a Met, he would have been shuttled out ages ago. Instead, the Yankees are reaping the benefits of their loyalty. Of course, the Yankees could afford to be patient with Hughes, because they weren't dumb enough to give him a ridiculous 3 year, $36 million contract....
  22. That's a great article. His main points are: 1. The Mets suck. They are too gutless and cheap to cut Perez. If the Mets wanted to win, they'd cut him loose right now. 2. The Mets suck. This is their own fault. They shouldn't have pissed off Boras last winter about Beltran. 3. The Mets suck. They should have never signed Perez to such a big contract in the first place. 4. Perez sucks. He's dumb and has a dead arm. 5. Perez is smart. He knows he sucks and is daring Wilpon to fire him. 6. The Mets suck. They should never have signed Perez to such a big contract in the first place. 7. Wilpon should release him. It's having a bad effect on the other players and preventing them from winning. 8. The Mets suck. Releasing Perez won't change that.
  23. Note to you parents out there, bad things befall men when you name them some oddly spelled version of "Jeremy".
