  1. I saw the slo-mo replay of the last catch. The ball hit down toward the heel of the glove then slid into the pocket. It was that close to being a game winning hit. Amazing.
  2. Ian O'Connor wrote: Ben Grimm's dislike for Centerfield, fueld by CF's propensity to take sole credit for wins while downplaying Grimm's "Deathwatch" efforts, was so legendary that one CPF official admitted he was too scared to talk to Grimm about making amends with his fellow poster. "It would've been the last conversation I ever had with Ben," the official said. "I would've been dead to him. It would've been like approaching Seawolf to talk to him about Rachel Getting Married" Soupcan, captain of the CPF, tried to intervene, citing his own unfriendly history with fellow-poster Cooby. "I faked it with Cooby," he told Grimm. "And you have to fake it with CF."
  3. What I'm saying is that it's been six straight games, 10 of 23 overall. The CPF is abusing Centerfield. Yes, abusing him.
  4. Is the implication here that Brad Emaus is not BRAD EMAUS? He gave us plenty of memories. He even has his own thread.
  5. Old guy with the brooms itching to make his 2011 debut. Let's not let him down. Who knows how much time he's got left.
  6. Catch the ball Mets.
  7. Gee, I hope they get this one in today.
  8. It makes me so happy when I meet another fan of the Wire.
  9. Was the next Dan Uggla.
  10. Kevin Burkhardt: CF, great IGT win again last night. Tell me how you were able to get the job done tonight. CF: Well Kev, it's simple really. Just had a gameplan, thought about what I wanted to do beforehand, you know, caps lock for the "IGT", numerical date, and then just sit down and execute my typestrokes. KB: The team is 4-1 when you start the IGT, 2-12 in all other games. How have you been so successful this year when the other posters are scuffling a bit? CF: You know, I just don't think about, you know, the other guys. It's my job to go out there and be the stopper and that's what I'm doing. KB: There's been some rumors that this has caused friction between you and your fellow posters, is there any truth to this? CF: No, not at all man. I just want to win. I'm all about winning. You know me, I'm not a selfish center kind of guy. I just go out there and win. KB: There's been some criticism that you don't go deep into your threads. At one point last night, Ashie had three straight posts, some heavy lifting by Edgy and LFWS... CF: Look, I get the job done. Ok? Are those guys 4-1? I don't think so. KB: Of course. Thanks CF, guys, back to... CF: And you know what, I heard the crap they were saying about me being one-dimensional and all, you know what? I'm not here to predict the NCAA, or guess classic rock. Ok? So what I don't take any fucking pictures. All that shit was going on, and here we are and I'm the only one winning. I'm all about the wins. Always have been. Are they the King? No, I'm the fucking King. MY NAME IS MY NAME.
  11. I thought wicked stepmom was kinda hot.
  12. I don't know whether coming from the AL has anything to do with it, but I've just done some quick research and found that managers that tend commit to small ball have the fact that they are shitty managers in common.
  13. You know, I'm even ok with losing. Let's not try to embarrass ourselves out there.
  14. I guarantee you if Reyes tries a straight steal there it doesn't end up in a double play.
  15. The one where he is standing outside of the conference room. The guy texts him "Let's Go Mets" and he makes them chant anyway...then the girl mouths "love you". I think yesterday was the first time I listened to the guy talking: "so the breakfast scones will be replaced with breakfast muffins..." Great commercial. My favorite since they had the one where he was running in front of the radar guy. Definitely the highlight of the season so far.
  16. Hi! I'm Justin Turner. I'm betting that if the news had not broken, and I had shown up tonight wearing Brad Emaus's uniform, none of you losers would have noticed the difference.
  17. A little hasty for my tastes. I thought Brad had the look of a hitter. (I know he didn't actually hit, but whatever.)
  18. Gwreck wrote: Question for G-Fafif: Did you already assemble the list? Or are you working on it as the season goes on? Aside from #1 and #163 (the two easiest choices), I wonder what other games were "obvious picks" and what ones were the toughest to figure out. Matt Franco beating Mariano Rivera, rallying in the 9th against Curt Schilling, Gooden's 1 hitter against Chicago, July 4th game in Atlanta, and the game after the September 11 attacks would be my picks as locks.
  19. That's right Mets, your team is so bad, you can't give the tickets away.
  20. How to Build an Award Winning PhillieBot 1. Buy Segway 2. Add third wheel so it loses the balancing thing that makes it cool 3. Disconnect the top half so now you have to push it everywhere. 4. Do not add fourth wheel so it can be distinguished from shopping cart. 5. Make pitching machine out of jai-alai thingy. 6. Make sure it's a) inaccurate slow c) painted silver. 7. Connect pitching machine to butchered Segway. 8. Go to the press and confirm every negative stereotype about engineers.
  21. I'm going to need some help with the Tartuffe reference.
  22. Maybe. If you believe that the worst type of season a team can have is one where they can't realistically contend, but manage to stay in the thick of things just long enough to prevent them from improving. I don't think this team is this bad, but it's looking more and more like they might not be relevant at any point this season. Which may not be the worst thing. A couple of positives: *A team that never contends can't be blamed for not letting K-Rod's option vest. Pick up his salary and trade him to a team that has an Established Closer. He becomes the "eighth-inning guy", and the vesting option goes out the window. If the Mets pick up the salary, they might be able to find a team who will overpay for an Established Closer. *Johan has no incentive to rush back too early. He takes his time, gets ready for 2012. *I hate to see him go, but Beltran looks somewhat healthy out there. Again, pick up the salary, trade him for some young guys to an AL team. Call up Lucas Duda, tell him to relax and let's see what he can do in the long haul. *Jenry Mejia can be called up mid-season in a low-pressure environment. *The youth movement really can change the atmosphere around this team. The fans maybe will get behind a young team that's playing for tomorrow. *The team feels pressure to create some positive news and extends Jose Reyes to a lifetime contract.
  23. metirish wrote: On the problems scale regarding this team K-Rod is way down there for me . Fucking dismal. Really? It's at the top of mine. As of now, they suck in 2011. K-Rod can go a long way to making them suck in 2012.
  24. BOOBS ARE GREAT!!! Wait what? Oh, baseball related. Got it. BOOBS ARE GREAT!!! (and throw your fucking slider)
