  1. Benjamin Grimm wrote: David gets a one-out triple down the line in right. Harper looks like he may be hurt. I read this as DaviS gets a one out triple. I guess it's wishful thinking.
  2. I WAS TRYING TO EMBED A YOUTUBE OF THE VIDEO FOR THE POLICE SONG. LET'S ALL PRETEND IT'S HERE AND LAUGH ACCORDINGLY.
  3. Silly, pointless things in baseball (not exhaustive): 1. Mascots 2. Keeping score. We have online pitch by pitch accounts of every game available on your phone in real time. 3. Singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch of ballgames. Presumably, anyone singing is already at the ballgame. 4. The 7th inning stretch 5. Caring about what 25 guys who have no idea who you are do on a field against 25 other guys who also don't know you. 6. Rally caps. 7. Standing and taking your hat off during the Star Spangled Banner. 8. Superstitions
  4. Somebody on a Cardinals board just started a "Memories of the Lead" thread.
  5. This could never happen to me. If I tuned into a Mets game, I immediately looked to see if a hit had been given up. Until one was given, I was definitely aware of it. If not in the forefront, but somewhere in the back of my mind. I never realized how much this affected the way I watch a game. I wonder if this will continue to happen. Most likely it will, and when the first hit is given up, I'll say "Well at least we have the one." If so, this means I will think about Friday's game EVERY GAME I WATCH.
  6. I wonder how many insane Mets fans tonight are thinking this could actually happen. If he gets through the first inning unscathed I'm going to be on pins and needles.
  7. I'm so giddy, it doesn't even bother me to hear David I. Pankin tell me that bankruptcy is not the end, it's a new beginning.
  8. It'll be a shame that this will be overshadowed by the World Series Championship in October. Still, I guess it's kind of special.
  9. Mike Baxter. Greatest Left Fielder in Mets History.
  10. I can't believe how every ball in the 7-8-9 inning seemed destined to fall in. Don't remember being this jumpy in a game in a long time. After how it's been the past few years, especially last year, I feel like there have been a few moments in 2012 that made me think "Oh right, that's why I watch baseball." I feel so good I feel like I could visit Eastern Europe again.
  11. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. My family watched it all unfold together too. My brother, who oddly enough is in St. Louis, joined us via text message. As soon as the last out was recorded my phone blew up. I'm telling you, baseball is wonderful. Some part of me always suspected that when it finally happened the Mets would find a way to lose the game. I never thought it would be this great. Incidental awesome thing, RA goes tomorrow and is a threat to make it back to back no nos.
  12. This is crazy. How can he be this bad? He must be hurt (or sick) no?
  13. I am offended. I demand they send me a shirt.
  14. We really need Jason Bay. Yes I just typed that.
  15. Can we send Heath Bell back to Norfolk for old times' sake?
  16. Awesome. I love beating Heath Bell.
  17. What happened? My GameCast is screwy.
  18. Centerfield wrote: Ike Davis is going yard in the bottom of the 9th. Off Heath Bell. Nice. I love beating Heath Bell.
  19. Ike Davis is going yard in the bottom of the 9th.
  20. The Marlins have some pitching. We're scoring 20 here.
  21. http://espn.go.com/mlb/spring2012/story/_/id/7629838/spring-training-2012-mike-stanton-miami-marlins-wants-called-giancarlo-stanton It took me until the fifth inning or so last night for me to figure out who he was.
