  1. So by that table, among the 64 different outcomes: 30 outcomes result in the Mets clinching outright. 18 scenarios require 1 win on Monday. 14 scenarios require the Mets to win twice on Monday. Of those last 14 scenarios, 9 of them involve the Mets getting swept. So as long as the Mets win one game, there's only 5 scenarios out of the remaining 48 that require them to win two games on Monday. Odds are a harder to figure out since the chances of any one result aren't exactly 50/50.
  2. If I'm right, and i may well not be, i think there are 64 different outcomes, but 14 different net outcomes. And the outcomes in the middle are far more likely to occur the the ones toward the ends.
  3. This guy. https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/braves_make_shocking_moves_in_regards_to_their_rotation/s1_16493_40958384https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/braves_make_shocking_moves_in_regards_to_their_rotation/s1_16493_40958384 I don't know what to make of it. Basically the Braves have 5 games and are currently the team on the outside looking in. Barring an Arizona collapse, it's not likely that Monday's games won't matter. Pitching Sale Friday means he's available for Game 2 of the WC series. Holding him back another day means he might miss the WC round altogether. It's a move that only makes sense if your goal is to eliminate the Mets, rather than advance in the post-season.
  4. 14 different combinations for the weekend. 5 scenarios. Mets clinch this weekend. 3 scenarios. Mets need to win 1 game on Monday. 6 scenarios. Mets need to win both games on Monday. 6. Chris Sale will actually be on extra rest. Max Fried Friday. Outside of that, the Braves have not announced their rotation. I think their idea is to somehow get to Monday, then throw Sale and Schwellenbach against the Mets. I guess their feeling is that KC may have clinched by Saturday, and may be resting their starters. It will be interesting to see how the Mets counter. It's possible that Sunday's game could be meaningless for the purposes of Mets/Braves. And depending on how the Diamondbacks, meaningless altogether. So you definitely don't burn a starter on that game.
  7. There is talk that KC might not be able to make it into Atlanta for Friday's game. Meaning the Braves might have a double header on Saturday.
  8. And not for nothing, if you're a Braves fan, you're pissed as well. Assuming they don't play again until Friday, they'll get only one more start this year from Sale/Fried. Neither will be available for a DH on Monday, and neither will be available for Game 1 of a WC series that starts Tuesday. If they make the postseason, they'll play 5 games in the 4 days leading up to it, leaving them potentially no pitching for Game 1 of the WC series. Plus, Lindor will be (hopefully) healthier on Monday than he would be today/tomorrow. Atlanta fans didn't want this either.
  9. =Centerfield post_id=171745 time=1727281586 user_id=65] I wonder how much say the Braves organization had in the neutral site decision. I'm guessing you can't deprive a club of its ticket revenue without their consent. If the Braves were the roadblock, they'll be rewarded potentially three consecutive rainouts, and possibly doubleheaders on Saturday and Monday before potentially starting a wild card series on Tuesday. I'm hoping they have to throw Sale and Fried on Saturday and Schwellenbach on Sunday. Would serve them right.
  10. I know that MLB fields drain well, and there is a tarp on the infield, but doesn't there come a point where the rain is so intense that the field is just not safe to play on? Outfielders need to start and stop too.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, you're undoubtedly right, and I'm undoubtedly exaggerating. If the complaint comes to a hearing, it'll likely be be litigated by lawyers already on retainer and adjudicated by an independent arbitrator. While the niggling amount of money may or may not be less than the expense, it's largely an expense that's already been paid anyhow. And I'll guess that either by agreement or arbitrator's decision, the Pirates will end up paying half. It would also be good to bring to light the very shitty bad faith conduct of the organization. I wonder if there's no way to write that contract so that the bonus kicks in if the club releases a healthy player that is reasonably projected to hit that milestone.

  13. It occurs to me I can't remember any games from 2022 other than the sweep in Atlanta. I hope that doesn't happen this year.
  14. Unless they move the games this will be the last game until Friday.
  15. =Fman99 post_id=171653 time=1727224576 user_id=86] =Centerfield post_id=171650 time=1727224404 user_id=65] This one is over. 1 game lead. Sale tomorrow. Awful.
  16. This one is over. 1 game lead. Sale tomorrow. Awful.
  17. Alonso looks lost. Winker is punchless. Quickly 2 outs.
  18. Just tuning in. This game sucks already.
  19. So it must be soft tissue then. I guess that's good news?
  20. Nightmare scenario. Lose the first two. Get rained out. End up tied after the Brewers series. Go back down to Atlanta and lose one more.
  21. Neutral site options: 1. Milwaukee: Brewers are on the road in Pittsburgh. Mets head to Milwaukee next. Braves would likely object since they'd have to fly back to Atlanta to play KC. 2. Tampa: Nearby. Domed stadium. Rays are in Detroit. 3. Miami. Same. nearby. Domed stadium. Marlins are in Minnesota. 4. CitiField. Sure. It's supposed to rain, but there's a window between 9 a.m. and noon. I promise to root for the Braves so there's no home field advantage.
  22. Records aside, there are so many reasons the 2024 White Sox are a far worse team than the 1962 Mets. The White Sox are obviously not an expansion team. They have no excuse for a barren farm system and no talent on the major league level. They play in the third largest market in the US. According to Forbes, they had the 6th highest revenue in MLB last year (not surprisingly, behind the 4 NY/LA teams and the Cubs). Spotrac says they had the 18th highest payroll, and though a Chicago team with the 6th highest revenue should be much higher, there's no reason an 18th ranked payroll should result in a historically bad team. And now the buzz is that the White Sox are looking to cut payroll in 2025 and will likely trade Garret Crochet, the one good thing going for them. But none of this should be surprising if you're familiar with Jerry Reinsdorf. He somehow managed to make Jerry Krause the villain in dismantling the Bulls Dynasty, when in fact he was the one who wanted to cut payroll. He was one of the owners vocal about opposing Steve Cohen. And somehow has gotten a relatively free pass for his part in this 2024 debacle.
  23. 5-2 Giants. Bottom 5. Come on Giants.
  24. I would say lack of big moves following a down year hurt season ticket sales. The slow start. They didn't really contend for half a year. And then there's the stuff that's hard to change. Location. Accessibility. Neighborhood. Also. This belief among Met fans that they don't have any obligation to go to the game. Puzzling.

If he's there in time, he can block that ball before hit hits the bag. SNY/GKR would have examined if, how, and why Vientos was late. Whether it was the set-up and he just had too far to go or whether he simply didn't break when he should have. But it wasn't SNY/GKR so we got shit and never saw another angle except for the close-up showing that the ball hit the bag. Why it did and if it could have been prevented didn't seem to be on their agenda. They likely had other fish to fry.
