  1. For reference. Not suggesting that SB's are the sole measure of good baserunning. Mets Stolen Base Leaders 1. Lindor - 29 (4 CS) 2. Bader - 17 (8 CS) 3. Marte - 16 (1 CS) 4. I'll have to look it up, unless someone posts something here before I get around to it. Kazmir for Victor Zambrano. It's bad, not just for the trade in itself, but severely undervaluing the value that Kazmir had around the league. One of the biggest undersells in Mets history. Every once in a while you will see a Jim Duquette trade proposal and you'll realize that the trade was no accident. If left in power, he would have done something worse.
  3. Similar to the TCD, the reader should apply their own criteria. It just struck me how many idiots we've had heading our ball club.
  4. For those inclined to write in. https://nephcure.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Jim-Duquette-Headshot.jpg> I traded Kazmir GM https://images.deadspin.com/tr:w-900/18heo6tzyp4aljpg.jpg> Sexual Harassment GM
  5. Inspired by JCL's post in the other thread. Who was the worst GM in recent Mets history? https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_crop,w_2891,h_1626,x_2298,y_19/c_fill,w_752,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/images/ImagnImages/mmsport/3/01h6bhkq9ams514j038s.jpg> Suspended for IL Manipulation GM https://www.newsday.com/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.newsday.com%2Fimage-service%2Fversion%2Fc%3AMjkxNzM2MmMtZTdjZi00%3AMmMtZTdjZi00M2UzZWM0%2Fspmets210731.jpg%3Ff%3DLandscape%2B16%253A9%26w%3D770%26q%3D1&w=1920&q=80> DUI GM https://a3.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2021%2F0118%2Fr803670_608x824cc.jpg&w=570&format=jpg> Dick Pic GM https://www.si.com/.image/c_fill,w_720,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/MTY4MDI3MjY2MzAyMDI3MDI1/brodie-gm-topperjpg.jpg> Jeff Wilpon PR Guy GM https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOycDJsXkAA2tS5.jpg> Was not at all expecting to get the job GM

  7. This is a strong set. A cover that could have made a deep run is going to get left behind here.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Former Mets GM Zack Scott (remember him?) has proposed the following deal: Mets receive: left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet White Sox receive: infielder/outfielder Jett Williams, infielder Ronny Mauricio, infielder Brett Baty and infielder Jesus Baez That's prospects numbered 1, 6, and 8 in SNY's top 10. Plus, Baty, who has a .900 OPS in AAA. This trade would involve trading Williams, Mauricio and Baez off of injured seasons (value low) and Baty, who's value is low after starting slow in the bigs. Trading these four young players at the valley of their value sounds a lot like something Mets GMs of the past would have done.

  10. MLB Trade Rumors' prediction was fairly close to this. 5 years, $125M. And in their podcast, they felt that this was on the high side. If this is the case, I think the price works for the Mets, but maybe not the timing. As BG said earlier, Pete likely holds out, and by that time, the Mets have moved on.
  11. From that picture, Hadji was a Sikh.
  12. Turns 25 years old today. The kid has mashed at every level of the minors, including an .854 OPS at AAA Syracuse after getting sent down last year. He hit 16 HRs in 230 ABs. Per Stearns earlier this month, he adjusted well to 2B and can also play a little OF. I don't remember reading any articles about him making an adjustment in his swing, or any other reason for why he can't seem to hit at the Major League level. So whether he can hit in the bigs remains to be seen. Vientos had amassed 274 PAs, before everything clicked for him this year, at age 24. Baty is a year older, and has more than twice as many PAs as Mark did before his breakout. I'm not sure what to think. Maybe he just needed more seasoning at AAA, and he'll come into his own this season. Prior to this year, he'd only had 147 PAs at AAA. I just hope we don't dump him when his value is low. I think he can still find it.
  13. Does anyone know the history behind the name? I'm guessing it's related in some way to HoJo - Haji - Ali Hadji Shiekh...
  14. Meetings with Soto this week. In order: 1. Blue Jays 2. Red Sox 3. Mets 4. Yankees Per Jeff Passan. Do we read anything into the order of meetings?
  15. More so than any other award, I have no idea how one decides the manager of the year. Like I can tell if my own manager is bad. I think I can even tell if an opposing manager is bad. But a good manager. I don't know if anyone can truly say that one manager did a better job than another. How do you gauge that?
  16. Wait. I have an idea. https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/466499069_1166439311511442_220004162047745594_n.jpg?stp=cp6_dst-jpg&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=127cfc&_nc_ohc=MCiD_U3BWJsQ7kNvgHS71SN&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&_nc_gid=Aj9iCaveRoxh6Pc_vxHSdhj&oh=00_AYD7C98at5PIwKMdacGBI86VyK3Q3xaQFglbhPlH0pfYqw&oe=673967A7>
  17. I would think so. I went back and checked the article to make sure. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40640468/white-sox-pitcher-garrett-crochet-wants-start-get-extension-tradedhttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40640468/white-sox-pitcher-garrett-crochet-wants-start-get-extension-traded There are no direct quotes from Crochet, but it doesn't really look like it was refuted. He does cite health concerns for the demand, so maybe it wasn't completely selfish. But a guy saying "I can't pitch in the post-season or out of the pen or else I'll get hurt" isn't a great sign either. And like I said. He's had one good season and a history of injuries. Maybe the smart people will decide he's worth the risk. If it was me, I wouldn't give up my top prospects go get him.
  18. He's only had one good year. And was basically a 5 inning pitcher. Also said he wouldn't pitch the post season unless he got an extension. Also. His leg kick is all sorts of weird.
  19. I mean sure. Would be great. What's our pitch? Senga? Our pitching lab?
  20. MLB trade rumors estimates him at 6 years, $156M. Very good pitcher when healthy but has had forearm issues the past two years. So you want to make sure on those medicals Skinny guy. I feel like they generally don't hold up as well.
  21. The biggest name out there. Analytics guys say there are red flags due to declining strikeout rate each of the last few years. He'll likely take a 6-7 year deal.
  22. Just listened to National League Town. Great stuff! I know BMFC is no stranger to the mic. But Greg do you have broadcasting experience? You're a natural! Never cease to be amazed by the talent of the poolers. Mets on Tap up next.
  23. Signing him to a long term deal and having him opt out of the second half would be ideal.
  24. Acuna had his surgery at the beginning of June. It typically takes about a year to recover from ACL surgery. It took him 9 months to come back from his 2021 tear. So figure 10-11 months? Maybe May for Acuna. Strider got "internal brace" surgery. Which I guess is different from Tommy John? Recovery time is 9-12 months, rather than the 12-14 months for TJ. Strider got his surgery mid April 2024.
  25. It would make me nervous if Marte raised his hands at me. Even in jest.
