  1. His instagram handle uses 25. Maybe he'll switch to that. 22 is bad luck anyway. Bust number. Kinda like Francisco Lindor's hard 12.
  2. MLB Owners: Baty changed his number? No fair! You have to pay us! Fans who bought the Jerseys: Hey, what about us? MLB Owners: Players change numbers. Deal with it.
  3. If I understand this correctly, this means that the Mets are responsible to pay the players/coaches/training staff, while DBH handles the entertainment side (tickets, marketing, venue, etc) Then the revenue split must be addressed through the affiliation contract. So is this done just because big market clubs don't want the hassle of managing the minor league teams?
  4. That is the dumbest rule I've ever heard of in my life. Interesting that the author uses "MLB" as the entity that needs to be paid. Just say it's the owners.
  5. You sound like me. Victor Diaz, Dilson Herrera and Gavin Cecchini were a couple of guys I knew were going to be stars. Which is why I can't even pretend to know who should be dealt. I'm sure I would have had no objection to trading Vientos before this season.
  6. Jett, Acuna, Mauricio and Baty are all infielders. Jett, Acuna and Gilbert are smaller, tablesetting types of hitters. I guess it makes sense that we can't keep all of them. I don't know. I've said what I've said about Crochet, and I'm bad at judging trades objectively anyway. I wish we'd just sign good pitchers and let the kids play.
  7. I think Pete's situation is kinda disconnected from Soto and more about his projections. I think Stearns has a number in mind and won't go beyond that. I don't know what his number is, but for me I'd be good with 5 years. $130-135M. If he gets an offer beyond that he's likely gone. I just hope he makes up his mind quickly before the Mets go with another option.
  8. "Spread the money around". If you take the money that the Yanks bid on Soto ($47.5 AAV), you can get like Corbin Burnes and Michael Conforto.
  9. Wow. I never would have guessed that. So much for getting power from the corners and defense up the middle. I mean, I guess it makes sense if you think about guys like Lindor, Witt, Seager or Gunnar Henderson.
  10. Jordan Romano to the Phillies. 1 year deal. $7.75M. I was hoping the Mets would be involved here.
  11. So what's left? 1. [CROSSOUT]Sign Juan Soto[/CROSSOUT] 2. Sign/trade for a middle of the order bat to protect Juan Soto (Pete Alonso? Bregman?) 3. One More SP. Preferably one that is less of a question mark than the guys so far. Manaea? 4. Rebuild bullpen.
  12. I think it is. I can only think of a few times the Yankees went all in on a top free agent and didn't get him. Yamamoto was one. Robinson Cano another. Yamamoto was neither a Yankee nor the top guy. Cano, I don't remember where he ranked that offseason, but I think the Yankees eventually tapped out. I don't remember there being a bidding war as fierce as this, and never one between the Yankees and Mets.
  13. So in the end, all that stuff about the Yankees having an advantage was false. The Yankees just need to get close, blah blah blah. The Yankees bid far more than I ever thought they would. And if you told me from the beginning that the Yankees would offer $760M, I would have said he's taking it. I guess in the end he really didn't want to be there.
  14. =Gwreck post_id=180528 time=1733714357 user_id=56] =Centerfield post_id=177127 time=1729481565 user_id=65]Whatever it takes. Make him an offer he can't refuse.
  15. Soto has a very strong arm. It's about his only good trait as a fielder. So he'll likely stick in RF. His problem is that he doesn't judge fly balls very well. I wonder if 1B is in his future.
  16. LOL IMAGINE NOT HAVING JUAN SOTO
  17. JUAN FUCKING SIGNS
  18. It never made sense for Adames to move off of SS. His value comes from playing that position. He doesn't really hit well enough to be an elite 3B. I wonder about his production going from Milwaukee to SF. Kinda feels like a situation where he loses a few HR to the dimensions, starts overswinging, then goes downhill.
  19. Seven years. $182 million.
  20. I have no problem taking fliers for the back of the rotation. Especially ones that have a floor as a good setup man. But at some point we're going to need a reliable arm in this rotation. I came in hoping for Manaea and someone to slot above him. That ship seems to have sailed now.
  21. It IS bad news. Why would anyone want to trade Seiya Suzuki? It's awful!
  22. Frankie at his press conference: "Manaea's one of my best friends". The two pitched together in Oakland.
  23. Couple of updates on other options. In addition to Cody Bellinger, the Cubs could be looking to move Seiya Suzuki. Suzuki doesn't have Soto's power, but he's put up mid .800's OPS in two straight years. .283/.366/.482 with 21 HR in 2024. Put up nearly identical numbers in 2023. He also stole 16 bases. Not a great defender. Will likely cost prospects as his contract is pretty reasonable. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146143-mlb-rumors-cubs-determined-to-trade-cody-bellinger-or-seiya-suzuki-amid-2024-fahttps://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146143-mlb-rumors-cubs-determined-to-trade-cody-bellinger-or-seiya-suzuki-amid-2024-fa Reports are that the Dodgers may be close to re-signing Teoscar Hernandez. https://clutchpoints.com/mlb-rumors-dodgers-finalizing-details-to-re-sign-teoscar-hernandezhttps://clutchpoints.com/mlb-rumors-dodgers-finalizing-details-to-re-sign-teoscar-hernandez
