  1. Never, ever been a fan of the black, even the trim. But I also never quite got all the hatred for the orange dot.
  2. Little Solo is up to "Instructional" this year from Tee Ball. We're the Blue Jays (sweet caps!). At this level (7-8 y.o.), coaches still pitch, but you are trying to get outs. Rules are that you get 3 outs an inning with a minimum of five batters. If you don't get to three outs, then everybody bats once. His best moments were turning an unassisted double play (caught popup and got a runner sleeping off the bag) and a double lined into the left field gap. Unfortunately, due to weather and scheduled breaks for easter week and Holy communion weekends, we've only played three games so far.
  3. The quote Irish highlighted was probably tongue-in-cheek, but I didn't think the tone or message of the article in full was tongue-in-cheek.
  4. Ding Dong Bondy takes this opportunity to--of course--fellate Jeter: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2011/05/16/2011-05-16_jeter_the_right_man_to_lead_team_out_of_this_sorry_state.html
  5. And a Pridie single puts the good guys up 3-2.

  7. Gwreck wrote: Nope, scored as an error. Did Lee touch it? I thought he just missed it.
  8. Wow, does that break up the no-hitter?
  9. TheOldMole wrote: I wonder how often both teams have had a catcher batting second. Gary said it was the first time in a Met game since 2007 against the Twins (LoDuca and Mauer).
  10. Impossible. He's a true Yankee! Core Four! All about the team and winning! This can't be!
  11. No you are right, I missed the 8th inning on the way home, I thought on the postgame they said Izzy came on with two men on. But a check of the box says he started the whole mess. So my bad. I can't get on the let it vest bandwagon because it won't really ruin anything. Even if it vests the payroll will be much lower next year.
  12. Was today his first non-save mopup finish this year (another 1-2-3 outing, to be fair)? I guess he was already warmed up in what would have been a save situation before Beltran's last bomb, so I won't go totally crazy on Terry here. I will point out that Izzy again gets the "heavy lifting" as Batmags would say, getting out of a jam in the 8th.
  13. The whole logic behind black caps to help merchandising and catch up to the Yankees is so ridiculous. You can sell merchandise in whatever color you want. How many red, pink, powder blue, purple, orange, green Yankee caps/shirts are sold? (I see them all the time). But the Yankees don't wear them on the field.
  14. First putout - Olerud?
  15. G-Fafif wrote: The road blacks were deleted from the wardrobe after 2008. Not sure what you mean here. They still wear the blacks away from Citi.
  16. So will it be Murph at 1B for the time being? I think it would be better keep him at 2B than to move him. But I'm not sure what our other 1B options are now that they've opted to bring up Fmart.
  17. Ceetar wrote: Jason Pridie's Girlfriend. former softball player I know ballplayers attract hot chicks, but damn. Is this a standard catch for a (until 3 weeks ago) a Triple A outfielder?
  18. So what stupid things did Jeff say at lunch to scare Cohen off?

My brain likes making things cartoony. Then an Acme anvil drops on him, he sees stars, and a big lump starts growing from the top of his head.
  20. I wonder how long all that was going on. And I wonder if the FO was just clueless about it or if they sort of knew about it but turned the other cheek. Neither choice shines a positive light on the FO. BTW, go jump off a bridge, Frenchy. You know what is frustrating? Watching you go 0 for 4 while seeing a total of seven pitches day after day.
  21. Google Kars 4 Kids fraud. Interesting that the Mets/WFAN still take their advertising money.
  22. The Tragic is Back.
  23. Fafif, I was up and down a few times with little Solo so you might have seen me. Seems like the younguns are influenced by the constant "Make noise" (and really, is there a stupider ballpark innovation than the Noise Meter?) and "everybody clap your hands" that there's no desire to t spark their own LGM chants. And even when they do--and this is what really annoys me about the ballpark atmosphere--the chant is immediately drowned out by the latest scoreboard plea to make noise or clap your hands.
  24. G-Fafif wrote: Half-decent engagement in 512 today late in the game. Some LGMs that sustained through entire pitch sequences. One guy insisted on telling Wright to DO IT FOR YOUR MUTHA though honestly he was kind of a dick. Lot of small children, presumably a symptom of Mr. Met Dash and Mother's Day. Mets sucked worse than the crowd. You were in 512? Can't believe I missed you. Mrs. Solo quite befuddled by the no-promotional giveaway for moms thing.
  25. HOme opener in 2009 to christen Citi Field was a night game due to the fact that the Padres played a day game on the west coast the day before.
