  1. Robin Ventura 3rd base #25
  2. First Base # 12 Eddie Murray
  3. This is so stupid. If shifts are banned, then wouldn't you also have to ban: - playing the infield in with a runner on third and less than two out. - playing corners in in a bunt situation. That's not even considering moving your outfielders either.
  4. Oh, to be playing .678 ball and have a bit of a dilemma. The Red Sox just watched David Price get eaten alive by the MFYs for like the 900th straight start (not really, he did beat them in Fenway last month but that's the outlier). There is a strong likelihood that those two teams will meet up in the five-game ALDS (unless in the Wild Card game Oakland can break the post-season hex that seems to infect them). If you're the Sox, there's no way you can give Price a start in that series, can you?
  5. I'll go with Seaver, as the 6 SP.
  6. I’m done with Blevins.

The Mets seem to plan very poorly for injuries, however. James Loney, Jose Reyes, TJ Rivera and Rene Rivera all started in that game. Duda was back, but Terry started James Loney in the wild card game, who by then was a statue at first base and had about 3 extra base hits in two months.
  8. Oh, come on now Sewald.
  9. I think Velazquez was called out on the field on the original appeal by the Braves; the Phillies then asked for video appeal (because at that point why not?); and the umps stuck with the out call. My question is, on "tag up" video reviews: usually you see side-by-side videos of the baserunner and the guy catching the ball. How do we know for certain they are synched up time-wise? I'm sure there's a way for them to know it but I'm curious.
  10. For Mets, I think it's Todd Hundley and Julio Franco. Jefferies is a month older than me; and I don't think anyone younger came up to the Mets again before Todd.

  12. Am I too much of a Mets homer to think that McNeal call was bull crap?
  13. This would be welcome news for me. WOR very hit or miss up here.
  14. If Giants fans has Schaefer voting, all their votes would go to Bumgarner first, then Randazzo.
  15. Not a big bunting guy, but with Bumgarner on the mound there I could have been talked into a Plawecki bunt with 2 on and nobody out. And yeah, that's a total second guess.

  17. Randazzo has to ring that guy up. Especially with deGrom on the mound. Then deGrom loses him and then gives up a RBI double. Jake is pissed out there.
  18. Robbie Alomar Omar Vizquel

  20. Thinking that August 1 Mets at White Sox August 2 Brewers at Cubs August 3 or 4 Mets at Pirates Would make for a nice road trip with Little Solo

I still their 22 game losing streak in September will drop them out of the playoffs completely. Miami had the bases loaded and nobody out in extras and the MFYs played the shift. Not one of the next three batters either tried to hit the other way or even bunt. And the announcers said one of those batters, while hitting around .160, had "great speed". Naturally, he swung from the heels. The second out of the inning was a nice play be Torres. He backhanded a grounder and made a quick sidearm throw to the plate to nail the runner. They did not score. Yech! Later Bases loaded, no out, in a tie game in extra innings and they shifted!?!?! Not played infield in, or at least halfway?
  22. Wheeler was probably salty about not only the run-scoring bloop hit, but also the Belt hit earlier in the inning was a weak bloop to where the SS would normally be stationed. So he probably felt like he had to get five outs that inning.
  23. Heads up play by Jake and Jeff there. Phanatics around me disagree. But looked like a good overturn to me. But what was Rosario doing making that throw?
