  1. JCL - you freakin' rule! Got the cards today and thank you again. I'm pleased to see you didn't pilfer every Met from the box for yourself. The 1991 Studio set is priceless. I think they took most of those shots in a hair salon during the off season. And my kid has already folded a Kevin Maas card in half, so we've got that going for us. After I take out the cards I want to keep, he's getting the rest of the box to play with. He already recognizes all of the Mets logos; he's definitely my boy.
  2. Has box 3 been claimed?
  3. There are a ton of really cool cards in that '52 Bowman set. http://www.vintagecardtraders.com/virtual/52bowman/52bowman.html
  4. I really like the '71 Nolan Ryan but I'm not really sure why. I like the design of the 1971 set in general.
  5. Wow. I haven't taken the opportunity to use the word "hyperdouche" in everyday conversation too often, but this seems like the perfect time. He's almost a caricature of himself.

  7. Huh. I always figured the GM job would go to Krivsky when the time came. I guess that's still on the table.
  8. So, I'm heading to the Bridgeport Bluefish game tomorrow afternoon with the wife and kid. The little guy is almost two years old, and it will be his first baseball game, so I'm pretty excited. Their opponent will be the Somerset Patriots, so I was checking their roster to see who might be coming through town. Bill freakin' Pulsipher is on the team. The Bluefish have Esteban Yan, Antonio Alfonseca, Jorge Julio, and Bartolome Fortunado on the pitching staff. It's gonna be like old-timer's day tomorrow. Most notable position player with the Fish is former Toronto C/1B prospect Josh Phelps. I wondered what happened to him.
  9. Mike had some growing pains in Kingsport and went 3-7 with a 4.47 ERA over 56.1 innings. He had trouble staying consistent, pitching great one day and getting shelled the next. Seems like he may have been a little unlucky though, with a .360 BABIP. Despite the pedestrian numbers, he's been bumped up to Savannah, where he's been great thus far. Hopefully he starts off next season at that level too.
  10. Parnell's pitching like there's a closer's job up for grabs or something. Damn!
  11. Mike's improvement last season has earned him a promotion to Single-A Kingsport in the Appalachian League. Let's hope he can pile up some innings this year. Here's his roster page.
  12. I'd love a tour of the place... seems like a pretty sweet deal for ten bucks.
  13. Heh. I don't remember experiencing too many rain delays at Shea. I must have been through a few of them, but maybe my brain is repressing those terrible memories.
  14. Gonna be an interesting day at the ol' ballyard. Wind, thunderstorms, maybe some hail! It's a good thing Citifield is a tolerable place to spend a rain delay, because that's where I'll be.
  15. Thanks for the reminder, CF

    Sketchy.

  17. That's one emmmmmmmmmmpty ballpark.
  18. I like watching this kid play 1B. Seems like he knows what the hell he's doing over there.
  19. I actually didn't want that to end... but I'll take that big fat W and cram it into the books.
