  1. Called it quits after Crawford robbed Byrd to end the top of the 11th.
  2. Muno has tallied 220 AB through 63 games at AA Binghamton playing most of his games at 2B and filling in at SS once in a while. Overall, um... unimpressive. .227/.361/.350 3 HR 38 RBI Although, he's batting .327 this month (after a .179 month of May), so maybe he had some trouble getting acclimated to AA pitching.
  3. "a Blue Smoke pulled pork sandwich laced with LSD" Make it happen, Mets. At this point I don't care what it costs.
  4. Didn't realize WPIX was blacked out on Cablevision until just now. I guess I should be thankful that not all Mets games are on channel 11.
  5. This happened close to a month ago... 50 game PED suspension. Do you take drugs, Danny? http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7947793/two-minor-leaguers-daniel-muno-luis-rojas-get-50-game-suspensions
  6. First time checking in here since last night, and I still can't believe what I just saw. I hardly even get a chance to sit and watch a whole game, but I had a cousin (and his Mets fan wife) visiting from Braves country, so we hung out, drank tons of beer, and got to celebrate history together. Pretty sweet.
  7. Apparently Dmitri Young amassed a very valuable collection of baseball cards during his playing days, and now he's selling all of them to start a foundation. Some pretty amazing cards in there, although I'm not sure how a few hundred cards ends up costing you $5 million. 8. Through 100 at-bats with St. Lucie: 29 hits (9 doubles, a triple, and 2 homers) 15 RBI 13 R 10 BB, 17 K 5 SB, 1 CS .360 OBP .460 SLG Only batting .211 against lefties thus far, but .371 with RISP.
  9. I'm currently serving the 39th year of my self-imposed lifetime ban from Yankee Stadium.
  10. Didn't see the game but I read this account of it. http://deadspin.com/5902405/the-red-sox-game-ended-with-a-magical-elastic-strike-zone
  11. Heh, I guess I did leave that info out. He played mostly SS at Brooklyn last year, but spent a little time at 3B too. I'm not sure why he's not mentioned as a potential candidate for 2B.
  12. Now that my nest is empty I've decided to adopt another. Going with Danny Muno, partly because my kid likes Yo Gabba Gabba, and partly because he's a polished college player at a position of need for the organization. Drafted in the 8th round in 2011, he went straight to Brooklyn where he batted .355 and got on base at a .466 clip. Showed some pop, with 23 doubles in 59 games. His Cape League numbers seemed to indicate trouble with wood bats, but his Brooklyn numbers say otherwise. We'll see if he can repeat that success this year. He's a little guy who bats at the top of the order. I know David Eckstein was annoying, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a guy like that on our side.
  13. Looks like my boy was released on 3/28/12.
  14. A Mets classic if there ever was one.
  15. We begin 2012 with the tale of this Fairfield joyrider. It wasn't me, I swear.
  16. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Philly.com reporting Wright in Philadelphia is 100% true and is available for the right price. I'd consider making that deal.
  17. attgig wrote: WTF! Ridiculous. The fans who bothered to show up should get out of there too.
  18. OK... he's back in rookie ball at age 21. The team's roster page lists his status as "rehab" so I guess he's getting back in shape before the inevitable bump back up to A-ball. Let's hope so anyway. Never thought to check youtube for video on this kid, but here's a decent one showing young Mike striking out some chump in Kingsport last year.
  19. I gotta stop looking at the birthdates of these kids... it's only gonna get worse as the years drag on.
  20. I remember how psyched I was as one of those homers nestled into the netting atop the green monster... And I can still see him in my head, clapping and pumping his fists after that Game 6 single. We're pulling for you, Kid.
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: Part of Jeff Wilpon's explanation for the smaller park is that those 'extra' 5-10,000 seats are always the most expensive ones to build and wind up giving you the least return on the money. Not if you make it to the playoffs.
  22. I had forgotten Backman went to the Phils. There's a cool David Cone card in there (Topps Studio) that I don't think I had. Plus a sweet Todd Pratt minor league card. Oh, and a random '40s-style nude pinup card from 1989. Finders keepers.
